Might as well get end of replay review if your not going to get it right. The non in crease call was awful.
Has to be conclusive for them to overturn, if they are 95% sure, they have to keep the call as is.

Hop was getting all the calls for the majority of the game so it wasn’t like calls were tilted all game. The first three penalties on UVA were all questionable and Hop scored on all three.

End of the day, the refs didn’t lose you the game, the pathetic offense over the last 20+ minutes did.
Your last sentence is entirely correct. The rest of the post is - well - not.
That “hold” on 49 to start the game was soft. He immediately dislodged the ball on his initial check, if you want to call a loose ball hold for standing over him during the gb fine but it definitely wasn’t a penalty. And the questionable slash on Shelly got stick. Two free goals.
Questionable slash on Shelly? They replayed it and Quint the clown even agreed it was a slash. It was totally into the head neck area. Give me a break.

That's it, Milliman forgot to tell them to score!
His O was exhausted. They weren’t making much headway. The ball had just gone out of bounds. There were 27 seconds left on the shot clock.

You don’t think that was a good scenario for a timeout?

You think it was better that the game ended with PM still holding that timeout in his pocket?

What are you rolling your eyes at?

Wouldn’t say the refs called a perfect game (especially in the crease call), but they did a pretty good job in a tough game.

At least Petro won a couple of national championships and took us to seven Final Fours.

PM has done neither. I doubt he ever will.

You were spotted a 4-0 lead facing a goalie who couldn’t see the ball. UVA had there worst shooting game of the season, highlighted by D1’s all time leading goal scorer shooting 1-11. Irelan played awesome and made two doorstep saves he had no business making. Only putting up five 6v6 goals and losing a game with all those advantages is pretty brutal, especially with a senior heavy team.

Sorry, but PM will never accomplish what Petro did as a coach.

Petro’s first 8 seasons:

2001: quarterfinal
2002: Final Four
2003: National Title game
2004: Final Four
2005: National Championship
2006: quarterfinal
2007: National Championship
2008: National Title game

I understand that Petro’s glory years were before Hopfan16’s time, but that doesn’t excuse sh*t comments against one of the greatest Hopkins coaches of all time.

Anyone here seriously think PM will ever measure up to Petro?

At your armchair coaching. Hop coaches apparently believed it was better to not let the UVa D get organized. TV just doesn't give enough info to question that.

Hop hadn't scored since late in the 3rd quarter. More chaos could well have been to their advantage.

He doesn't have to in order to be successful and we live in a completely different world from all those things that happened a lifetime ago. Stop living in the past. Petro leaving was a good thing, PM is doing a fine job. Sucks this one was lost but it's time to enjoy the offseason. Feel bad for the Seniors/Grads that are leaving us but ultimately they are the ones who didn't get the job done on the field today.

happened at a totally different time. ND, Denver, PSU, OSU, Michigan, did not exist as serious competitors. Talent pool was much more localized. Etc etc etc.

And why stop at 8? You know why: things went rapidly downhill from there.

Yeah, I get that. And the UVA D would have gotten some rest.

But the bottom line is that they had tried that for 30 seconds without achieving much.

The Hopkins O didn’t look that organized the first 30 seconds. Why not call for a timeout with 27 seconds left to get organized on O, maybe set up a play?

I would wager most coaches would call that timeout. Are you doubting that?

That’s complete bullsh*t.

Syracuse was in its peak Desko years.

2005 was Pressler’s best team. Starsia was at the peak of his career. Princeton was still Princeton under Tierney. Navy was a serious lacrosse program. Duke was entering its Danowski era.

If anything, it was a tougher era to win.

Petro did not adapt as the game changed, especially on defense.

But even in his latter years, Petro reached a Final Four.

Again … think PM will ever accomplish what Petro did?

Yes. I think most coaches would tell you that they would need to have been there, with sideline knowledge of the team's mental and physical state, to make that call.

Jeez. Desko made how many final fours in a row? Do I think that's happening again? No. Competition has ramped up immensely. It's why Hopkins had to join a conference. PM has shown a proven upward trajectory with recruiting, culture, and on field performance.

Coach K was 17-13, 10-17, and 11-17 in his first three seasons at Duke. Doc would have fired him.

Obviously not suggesting PM will be Coach K, but a little more patience and grace should be afforded to him. PM has gone 4-9, 7-9, 12-6 in the quarters, and 13-3 and a bull$hit crease call from the final four. That’s really, really not that bad man!

Anything is possible. If this was his / our best shot that kind of sucks because this years offense was ultimately incredibly suspect and I'd like to think in future years the gang will be able to put together a better unit on that end of the field. You can try to scheme all you want but when the boys on the field ultimately flub up some throwing and catching or get tired or miss an assignment, etc. at some point it is entirely out of your hands.

I don't think some of you realize that this blip here for the last two years of some semblance of success are actually well ahead of schedule in the rebuild process from what at least I and many others expected.
