And my kudos to Tillman for calling timeouts every time correctly must be balanced out by questioning Milliman for not calling time out when his guy fell down with the ball still in the stick; seemed like time for a timeout? -- unless he was trying to call it and refs didn't see it.DocBarrister wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 5:39 pmI have had it with Peter Milliman.Wheels wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 5:38 pmOr give his guys a rest. Hopkins almost totally stole one. The goalie was superhuman.
The goal was in the crease.
The goal was in the crease.

The Orfling wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 5:42 pm From the view from TVlandia, Hopkins probably got shafted twice on calls -- on the Millon 10th goal being upheld and the Kastner late hit/cross check to the head in OT -- but they had their chances. Great game. Tough for JHU to lose in OT like that but hats off to the Jays on a great year and another tip of the cap to UVA on a gritty win.
+1 post

Said ot before. You cant just rely on set offense. You need to push the ball at times. Hopkins had plenty of opportunities in the 4th quarter and Ot to push play.
Might as well get end of replay review if your not going to get it right. The non in crease call was awful.

They did push a bunch on the clear and turned it over and over and oversteel_hop wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 5:45 pm Said ot before. You cant just rely on set offense. You need to push the ball at times. Hopkins had plenty of opportunities in the 4th quarter and Ot to push play.

Fair. But they had no off ball movement. Just brain dead offensive possessions.
Re: QF #3 Hopkins vs #6 Virginia Sunday @2:30
Some ugly offense for sure, but they had 0 flow in the second half. I always say big games are about the middle of the field. Virginia dominated the middle of the fieldFinster wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 5:48 pm

thought at halftime about the only things uva was doing right was getting shots and speeding up hopkins. and that one team would be gaased. think that was hopkins in the end.

Has to be conclusive for them to overturn, if they are 95% sure, they have to keep the call as is.steel_hop wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 5:45 pm Said ot before. You cant just rely on set offense. Hop was getting all the calls for the majority of the game so it wasn’t like calls were tilted all game. The first three penalties on UVA were all questionable and Hop scored on all three.
End of the day, the refs didn’t lose you the game, the pathetic offense over the last 20+ minutes did.

Petro just popped a bottle of wine in Chapel Hill, 9 years since the Final Four.

Re: QF #3 Hopkins vs #6 Virginia Sunday @2:30
The entire purpose of adding instant replay is to overturn calls like Millon’s goal. I don’t count myself a Hopkins fan per se, more a lacrosse fan. No bias here. I am completely and utterly stunned when they didn’t overturn it. What more needs to be seen? For god sake, the black rubber pellets even bounced up from inside the blue stripe when he lifted his foot up. What a spectactularly bad call.
Beyond all that though, it was obvious Hopkins didn’t have the legs in OT. No one seemed to demand the ball. Lots of 5 guys standing around waiting for the 6th guy to do something when he had it. What a shame.

Biggest takeaway? If Pat Kav scored that question mark goal in the 2nd instead of Millon, Anish would be screaming hysterically it was the greatest goal he’s ever seen. Instead it was a rather “meh” reaction. F espn
Re: QF #3 Hopkins vs #6 Virginia Sunday @2:30
That “hold” on 49 to start the game was soft. He immediately dislodged the ball on his initial check, if you want to call a loose ball hold for standing over him during the gb fine but it definitely wasn’t a penalty. And the questionable slash on Shelly got stick. Two free goals.nyjay wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 5:58 pmYour last sentence is entirely correct. That's it, Milliman forgot to tell them to score!

Yeah, left that one in his pocket when he should have been screaming for one. Saw him shaking his head on the sideline, but I doubt he was pointing fault at himself. The Orfling wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 5:43 pmAnd my kudos to Tillman for calling timeouts every time correctly must be balanced out by questioning Milliman for not calling time out when his guy fell down with the ball still in the stick; seemed like time for a timeout? -- unless he was trying to call it and refs didn't see it.DocBarrister wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 5:39 pmI have had it with Peter Milliman.Wheels wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 5:38 pmOr give his guys a rest.
