After rewatching the first round game I’m not ready to proclaim Virginia is back to early season form. They were solid. SJU made it easy on them with bad approaches and sloppy play on offense. Doubt that happens with Hopkins tomorrow. Expect a tight game. Could see Kastner on Angelus

I don’t think the first round game for either team is a good indicator as to what we’ll see tomorrow

Hopkins played a very slow, low possession game. Tomorrow’s will be more up tempo and while Hopkins is a slower team, they thrived in a faster game against UVA earlier in the year

UVA showed a lot of good things, but they out talented Saint Joe’s and while they 100% can win tomorrow, it won’t be through sheer out talenting Hop.

I think both teams got pushed into the wide ends of the spectrum regarding pace at the end of the year; Hop to the slower end because the B1G is a slow paced league and UVA to faster because they’ve had TOs and played from behind.

It’ll be more normalized for both tomorrow and a very close game. 1-2 goals either way

Right now it’s 65 and cloudy but should be 1O degrees warmer by face-off. It’s muggy and my phone sometimes says cloudy when it’s drizzling. How much of an advantage does the team with more midfield depth—Hopkins—get from the weather? I think UVA’s top players are better but Hopkins can run two quality offensive midfields and has no shortage of ssdms while UVA hasn’t had much from their second midfield and is thin at dm. Will Millón and Boyden switch between attack and midfield again today? What kind of start can we expect from Nunes? Will face-offs be about even, or does UVA hold a slight edge? Can Hopkins beat UVA twice in the same season? I like Hopkins’ chances but still expect UVA to win by 3 or 4.

Offensively, Hopkins needs to be decisive and super aggressive against this UVA defence. Virginia’s length will punish hesitation by the offence. Hopkins needs to dodge hard, and know that slides likely are not coming. If you aggressively step into gaps, there are goals to be had.

This sounds so familiar.

Will Nunes make a save in the quarter?

He's always been their weak spot.

I think it was even risky starting him this game in my opinion. After that pole goal from 20 yards out he needs to be pulled. Well nvm he is

Is it Nunes fault if Virginia continually leaves the middle of the field wide the eff open. That’s coaching and not correcting.
A fraudulent intent, however carefully concealed at the outset, will generally, in the end, betray itself.

I mean 18 yards pole step down… he’s been struggling ever since that Duke game

Ain’t on Nunes. UVA is giving up the middle of the field way to easily. All 4 goals were created by getting to the middle of the field.
