The kid continues to amaze me. He goes up against one of the best fogo’s in D3 and instead of just holding his own goes 20 of 33 for a 60% win rate. He kept Salisbury from going on a run. Yes I know it was 8-1 at one point but that had nothing to do with him. Of the 20 face offs he won 13 or 65% of his wins to himself. What did that create ? It caused a man up for W&L for 3 false starts. Winning 13 gbs to himself led to 5 fast breaks and 5 shots scoring 3 goals. Even after watching him all year I never imagined that type of performance in such a big game. Facing off is or can be such a psychological weapon if you have a great fogo. This kid is one of the best and getting better . Great win hope these guys can fall asleep tonight I’d imagine the adrenaline is still burning. Phenomenal win, congratulations! They took a pretty good punch in the face tonight, settled in and made one of the most remarkable comebacks I’ve seen. Good luck tomorrow

How do we like the matchup tomorrow between W&L and Tufts. I have to say those W&L boys can play. Coming back from an 8 to 1 deficit is impressive to say the least. Looking forward to seeing Tufts play someone different.

W&L earning all of the benefit of doubt after that performance but human nature would seem to dictate it is going to be hard to get up again after winning their Super Bowl. That fantastic field level video looks like a team winning the NC, and very understandably so. Perhaps they will be totally loose and free having slayed the dragon but it would seem that is going to be hard to match that intensity the very next day against a tougher dragon. Best of luck to the Gennies though.

Get back on defense and make Tiffs play 6v6. Their standard offense is very average.

On paper, Tufts should be favored tomorrow. Hoping the Gennies continue their tribute tour to the 1974 Generals Team and find redemption for that great season. Good luck tomorrow.

Go Gennies!!

8-1 and then took the foot off the gas pedal. Tough look. Good job generals. Might be some grit down that bench after all. (Might)

Tufts should not be favored tomorrow. W&L is a better team.

Congrats on a great win today. Sorry to see my Gulls go down but today was a perfect example of never giving up. W&L dominated the play the last 2 1/2 quarters. I think the Lax gods made sure that last Salisbury shot at the end of regulation was going to graze the post.

Great win- lots of positives:

1) Composure after getting down 8-1;

2) Great team defense-slides and double teams were excellent;

3) DeCain- amazing point blank saves including one with Wang in the last couple of minutes;

4) Overcoming the long standing Eastern Shore “Home cooking’ . The push call from halfway across the field was an embarrassment;

5) Spano had an incredible game and showed he is a huge offensive threat;

6) Burns was dominant all game;

7) McCabe outcoached Beckmann;

8) Unbelievable team hustle;

Sleep well tonight- get a nap l tomorrow- and play hard.

Go BLUE!!!

faceoffs, some key saves, and making Salisbury top midfield a non factor were what won that game.

‘Especially their levels of resiliency and grit that they showed being down 8-1 to able to find a way to win a game at the end against what is an unbelievable Salisbury team,” said W&L coach Gene McCabe.

Who knew. Maybe the staff spending their days on here isn’t detrimental to their game.

Mendoza isn’t young anymore. He has been in the coaching business for over a decade, time to figure it out. He does the recruiting there, and he’d be the first to tell you that W&L’s academic reputation recruits for itself (in the country club and boarding school circles).

What this team needs is GRIT, hence all the injuries. Until Mendoza starts actively pulling in kids from some diverse backgrounds, I see them continuing to be plagued by this “injury bug.” He’s a Cortland guy, he should be able to identify scrappy tough blue collar players, and the school’s commitment to bringing in students with a diverse range of backgrounds should help him in the process. Lazy recruiting is to blame for year after year of chronic injuries IMO.

The school easily draws in some of the best talent money can buy (literally), but not an ounce of grit in each class, that’s where his work needs to come in.
This didn’t age too well.
