No he needed to not pick the ball up with 2 seconds left on ND's shot clock surrounded by three guys specifically standing there waiting for him to pick it up. Let the clock run out
Strange take…especially with ball in front of goal.
It’s an armchair jockey take.

When you’re fighting for gbs against ND near your net, you try to pick up the ball or take the body of a ND player. You’re not looking at the shot clock and thinking, “I’ll just stand back and let the clock run.”

Besides, 2 seconds is a long time, especially against a ND team that is great off the ground.

DocBarrister
Don't pick the ball up when there are four piranhas standing there waiting for you to pick it up as the shot clock is expiring. This is easy obvious stuff. It also wasn't near the net. Was a good 10 yards up the field. Stick to doctor-lawyering and your botanical metaphors
Again, an armchair jockey take.

You, watching at home, know there’s 2 seconds on the shot clock.

GT player, fighting for the gb while surrounded by ND players in his own defensive end, probably doesn’t, even if the sideline is shouting the shot clock count.

GT player is appropriately focused on getting the gb. He’s not watching the shot clock.

Hess fought for the GB, won it, and was harassed by ND into a TO. End of story.

How is this any different from you, sitting at home, telling the player he "needs to move his feet"? Perhaps he did not see the ND player chasing him and didn't realize he needed to move his feet? I guess when you say it, it's not armchair jockeying, because you are a doctor-lawyer.

This is the NCAA quarterfinals buddy. Feel like you've got to have shot clock awareness. Not really that hot of a take

Exactly. No Ball no chance for Georgetown

Clock awareness is not an armchair jockey concept. Players with good game sense pay attention to the little things like this, and it was exhibited on this very play. There were four ND players around the ball, and not one of them went for it because they were aware of the clock and knew what the smart play was.

No one's saying the Georgetown player should have moved out of the way and give a clear lane to the goal; you box out and run out the shot clock as best you can.
It’s not true the ND players weren’t going after the ball. Number 29, the original target for PK’s pass, had lost his stick. Faison, No. 14, was moving in for the gb but was blocked by a GT defender. Pat Kavanaugh was actually rushing in to participate in the scrum. None of those guys were acting like there were two seconds on the clock.

They were fighting for the gb until the horn blew.

Because the guy has the ball. He knows there are ND players around. Try and run out of trouble. That’s pretty basic. Has nothing to do with what you see on TV. Player on the ground has the best view of that situation.

In contrast, a player fighting for a gb surrounded by opposing players will almost certainly have no view of the shot clock. That’s an armchair jockey thing.

It’s hard to believe you can’t understand that.

The over-the-top exaggerated flattery of Notre Dame by Carc is just insufferable. Serisouly...He's a lazy announcer.

What do you mean? He's 16th in the country in save percentage. It doesn't get better than that

Just love the way the Cavanaughs play. CK dodges hard against a longpole, takes multiple stick checks, gets free underneath for the goal.

GT defender should have put a body check on CK, and he probably could have used a slide from a teammate. But CK was so quick, I think the GT defenders did the best they could.

Carc praises everyone, even the pretenders . He's watching the best coached, hardest working, most talented team. Historically great team. He could be saying alot more,

Trying to press a ride against a team that practices every week against the best ride in the country … not so good.

But GT had to try ….

I’m all for 10 man, and have coached iterations of them, but why the Eff do you allow your goalie to go 20 yards from home. Credit ND for dragging him out so far.
A fraudulent intent, however carefully concealed at the outset, will generally, in the end, betray itself.

LOL - This is same exact script from 2022 when Maryland was the "best team ever" -- there can't be a "historical best team ever" every freaking year.
