Again, an armchair jockey take.HopFan16 wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 1:03 pmDon't pick the ball up when there are four piranhas standing there waiting for you to pick it up as the shot clock is expiring. This is easy obvious stuff. It also wasn't near the net. Was a good 10 yards up the field. Let the clock run outDocBarrister wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 12:41 pm GT cardinal sin on that failed clear and ND goal.
That GT SSDM just needed to keep moving his feet and they could have made the clear.

When you’re fighting for gbs against ND near your net, you try to pick up the ball or take the body of a ND player. You’re not looking at the shot clock and thinking, “I’ll just stand back and let the clock run.”
Besides, 2 seconds is a long time, especially against a ND team that is great off the ground.

You, watching at home, know there’s 2 seconds on the shot clock.
GT player, fighting for the gb while surrounded by ND players in his own defensive end, probably doesn’t, even if the sideline is shouting the shot clock count.
GT player is appropriately focused on getting the gb. He’s not watching the shot clock.
