Are you insinuating coaching change? I'd be shocked her leash is that short...
Not a coaching change. The previous posts seemed to suggest those entering the portal were all about the players wanting to leave. I’m simply saying those entering the portal could have been a player decision or a mutually agreed decision between player and coach. This happens at all schools. A reset can be good for both sides.

Having watched a few VT games they lacked the speed and athleticism to compete with even the mid pack of teams in the ACC. Their offensive struggles were evident. They were a poor shooting team that struggled to finish at times. They were often outshot by their opponents, not because they couldn’t win the draw, but because their offense turned the ball over too much. Shot selection by some at times was questionable.

It will be interesting to see who transfers. I like their draw specialist and goalie, but they need to add more speed and offensive weapons.

I got a chuckle from this chemistry quote, then saw it probably wasn't intended to be sarcastic by uncfan. Will be interesting to watch the chemistry there next year.

Losing their goalie will be unfortunate. If this turns out to be the case, I wonder if her sister will join her in the portal. I believe VT has a solid goalie coming in from one of the top private high schools in DC.

Yes to both. Also a soph that was one of their best players. Along with the aforementioned draw girl that followed KS from Army. There are others as well. These are not players that lacked the speed and athleticism to compete. These are some of their best players that are leaving for a particular reason.

In there lies the problem. They may be the best players on a team that consistently finishes towards the bottom of the ACC, but they are not the caliber of players who can take VT to the next level. VT had some soph and juniors that really underperformed from their previous year, which helped contribute to an anemic offense this season. Changes are needed quickly and the transfer portal can help both the coach and players.

They most likely have played loads of backyard lacrosse together, helps them know each others weaknesses and strengths.

Is it bad to have 3 great sisters on a team? A top feeder, amazing recruit and an improving midfielder that is at the tip of her career

I had three sisters on a high school team, and it resulted in some surprising and unnecessary envy among the rank and file. I think that might be a concern.

I hate the transfer portal. While I feel as if players should have the option to transfer, I don't like what it does to and for teams, it just feels wrong on a couple of different levels (yes, work hard, young freshman, and you'll see the field....well, unless we bring in a senior AA transfer). Coaches reap the rewards of players they didn't mentor, coach, shape and mold, influence, or have anything at all to do with in the developing of those players, yet they can cherry pick from the portal and stack their team and benefit from the work others did for them. Yes, I understand that this is the way it is and it's not going to change but that doesn't make it any more tasteful or right. I hope AWW is 1 for 7 in NC games at game's end on Sunday.

Agree, not a fan at all, but it is what it is... Starting to see a few girls at new spots, but haven't seen/heard any big names as of yet. Only two more weeks of the open portal...

While I am not fan of KAH and her style of program management, I will also be pulling for NW tomorrow.

Just pointing out that the Cats have also helped themselves to available talent via the portal and have chased other transfers who eventually suited up elsewhere. Many of the transfers they did manage to woo have played and are playing big roles for the ladies in purple. Can't quite bring myself to say GO CATS, but I will be pulling for an all-out NW blowout.

I, too, am not a fan of the portal, but I do recognize the positives of allowing players to have freedom of choice.

The negatives of the portal, though, pale in comparison to the oncoming tsunami that will result from the confluence of schools having to share TV money with athletes, NIL money, conference realignments, and the impact on Title IX. Many people, including myself, are prognosticating about how all these things will shake out, but the truth is nobody really has the foggiest idea. Batten down the hatches.

If we are being honest, there’s already that nonsense in College at an insane level even if they aren’t sisters.

We will see about the chemistry. Lots of girls want play time. Nicole was a solid contributor during her time at Carolina…. But if she had been a favorite of JLs, I doubt she would have left for usc to begin with. If she is on the bench rather than on the field, not sure how that chemistry plays out ….no matter how good her intentions.
Lots of players that need the ball on next years team….could be great….or could be not so great.

I wonder about the Penn/Northwestern connection. Niki Miles was awfully friendly with KAH following the quarterfinal match. Izzy Rohr, too... NU losing Kendall Halpern, Carleigh Mahoney... needs to shore up their defense next year

Rohr is a PRIME pick up ... she has 2 years of eligibility. Her style of play fits well at NW + the lure of excellent graduate programs. BUT the weather is awfully nice down there in the Carolinas. Will be interesting to see who lands her. Lucky program.

Agreed; she is really smart, really gritty. She'd fit in a lot of places.

By my count, NU will need to replace eight starters, 4 on offense, 4 on defense. A couple transfers can’t hurt.
I think a grad degree from NU > UNC
If the weather is bad in Evanston, you practice indoors. And you have the beach. 8-)

From the USA Lax Magazine article about her it sounds like she’s already decided and just hasn’t officially announced yet. She wants to go into wealth management.

Someone at this board also said NU would be getting one of Penn’s best players. Hmm.

I was at the Penn-NU game and thought she’d be great for NU’s defense.
