3-straight CCs.
Participation trophy all too common nowadays.

Not a good sign for your program's chances if you find yourself fretting about COY.

Is this a lifetime achievement award?
With the returners Webster had, he was expected to win the CC.
MVP- agreed 100%, but you had the wrong fan that got all bent out of shape about COY.
Good luck to Dickinson and Swat this weekend! Hope they represent the CC well.

Swat advances and looks good vs a 16-1 Endicott squad.
How do they beat Salisbury? Serious question.

I think they have a punchers chance. I think they need a few things to happen:LILaxGuy08 wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2024 10:40 pm Swat advances and looks good vs a 16-1 Endicott squad.

Convert every faceoff win to a possession- can not afford to turn the ball over between the lines
Clear close to 100%
Carter Strauch needs to be the best player on the field (very possible)
Alex Strauch needs to erase whoever he guards (very possible, he’s done that every game so far)
Tyson plays excellent
Swarthmore will be able to draw slides and play good enough defense.they just can’t afford to make mistakes because everyone will bite them. i think if Swarthmore wins it’ll be in a shoot out

… Salisbury goes over 60% at FO, the best player on the field is from Salisbury, and Salisbury wins this game handedly. That’s how this is going to go.

Re: Centennial Conference 2024
Swat can win with a few keys to this happening. Salisbury is a power dodge down the alley type team. They swing a wide pass across the top if the alley is not there for a shot. Aggressive perimeter defense can slow this down. Strauch can shut off Jude. This is a catalyst for much of their offense. Strauch is as fundamentally sound as any d pole in D3. Clears need to start with middie feeds first on break outs. Even leading them with a pass is better than sloppy d wing passes. Almgren is a beast and I see him in full rhythm so good luck with that seagulls. Carter is also at full charge and can hit dimes in corners. That said, now they need to see production from Mabbs and Hardiman. If they have their full offense firing..just maybe they pull an upset. This offense is underrated.
Re: Centennial Conference 2024
Gulls are not just about offense, they have one of the best defenses that can shut down any offense. They have AA level players at every position. Salisbury will be well rested as most starters pulled in 2nd quarter on Saturday. Fresh legs makes a huge difference in May. Home field for Gulls, the have not lost a home game in years, no current Gull player has ever lost a game at home.SlackBaller wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 1:41 am Swat can win with a few keys to this happening. Another year and another early set of departures for Centennial Teams in the NCAA tournament...saw a tweet that asked the question: "How many more bad NCAAs will it take for the CC to stop be considered top tier?"
The conference has brand names, but when was the last, BIG time, OOC win for the conference? We know we are behind the NESCAC & Liberty League, but now looks like we are behind the ODAC as well (at least this year).
Will we see a CC team in the Natty Title game any time soon? (Swat feels far away after yesterday, Dickinson struggles in the tournament after the 2nd round, Gburg has had years since the last big run, WAC trying to figure it out but far away, F&M ...no idea what happened, Mules are trending up but still big gap to close, Ursinus seems to be trending the wrong direction)
Failure to have consistent deep runs and a trend of teams losing in the first 2 rounds with some blow outs & then lack of marquee regular season OOC wins bodes to hurt the rankings and potentially recruiting of CC teams...used to be the NESCAC & CC sitting at the top, now we are slipping to 4th place

I'm not trying to insult anyone but It's not as if any of the CC teams ever won anything other than a conference championship anyway. You have to go back almost 20 years since the last time Gettysburg was in the championship game. That's it, that's all they have.CentennialPundit wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 12:38 pmDefinitely plays a factor.laxrat1982 wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 12:33 pmWashedUp06 wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 12:14 pm Another year and another early set of departures for Centennial Teams in the NCAA tournament...saw a tweet that asked the question: "How many more bad NCAAs will it take for the CC to stop be considered top tier?"

The sport has grown and expanded, more choices for the kids.
Eight schools have won a NC over the last 25 years, don't beat yourself over it.

Agree. Swat lost to SALISBURY. Ugly first quarter crushed them entirely. If you watched that game you saw a top 30 DI program in action by comparison. Swat came from nowhere last two years. My guess is they have not had a stronger SOS because they were not a team that did anything for a top 20 to bother scheduling. Dickinson lost some key players going into round 3. Strong soph and freshman class. NESCAC was not nearly as dominant this year and I think they were lucky to have 4 teams in the playoffs. Watch this space. I see CC much stronger next year as Covid hangover goes away and success attracts talent.laxdad1434 wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 12:56 pmI'm not trying to insult anyone but It's not as if any of the CC teams ever won anything other than a conference championship anyway. These programs measure their success by turning young men into better young men while playing competitive lacrosse. Dc had some major injuries to key players and was tied 8-8 at end of 3rd. 5 penalties in 4th two of which were kicked in and the game was out of hand. That being said, MC won the game and hats off to them. That is a good team-#0, #3, #11 #13 and #52 are D-1 players. Goalie made 3 saves at end of 3rd that turned the tide. Hope they advance- parents were very classy.CentennialPundit wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 5:43 pmHaving two teams make the sweet 16 is a success. Especially for Swarthmore who is on the uptick. Re: Centennial Conference 2024
Swarthmore IMO is doing it the right way and their results the last two years are awesome. They went from a middle of the conference team to legit Top 10/20 outputs. Many, many teams have fallen to the Gulls. It's not new. The lessons there are immense. I really think you all can be a southern NESCAC alternative (not just academically) and continue to rise. Recruit and develop. And be patient.
