NCAA Tournament 2024
Re: NCAA Tournament 2024
Re: NCAA Tournament 2024
What are you talking about lol. How did they have an “easier ride”? 2021 was one of Lynchburg’s best teams and CNU beat them twice. In the last 4 years they have beaten RIT, Dickinson 3x, Gettysburg 2x, LYN 5x, W&L 4X, Salisbury, Wesleyan, Williams 2X, Stevenson 4X…. They have been a dominant program and the results speak for themselves. There are about 3 programs(RIT, Tufts, Salisbury) with a better resume than them over the past 4 years.EasternShoreLaxGuy wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 10:07 amODACtionEmpire wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 8:31 amBeing loaded with 5th years and Seniors only matters when they want to be there, and so far it looks like Brendes is the only one who wants to be in Newport News... was going to make a snarky comment on some of them having a foot out the door and in some sort of career, but their roster bios don't even include their majors to make that joke. Then they either have to play Stevens who has been rolling or Roanoke, a senior heavy team who is juiced to probably be the last team in
Hard to compete with a team as desperate as Cabrini. Deluca has quite a special group there, and it showed in their conference final. I like the Cavs in an upset but not sure how much further they can get on short rest.
I mentioned it in the ODAC forum, but I really don't know if Roanoke matches up well with Stevens. The Ducks are about as solid as it gets defensively, and we've seen what happens when the Maroons face a good defense. My eyes will be on this pod for sure.
I’m all for giving it to CNU because I feel like they have had an easier ride to a “dominant program” because of a few OT wins to a down Lynchburg program in the past few years. But this Saturday is cabrini’s last game as a program. While DeLuca has done well with this squad and situation, a 19-12 win vs Marymount is not impressive whatsoever for a program going into the playoffs. CNU wins by atleast 7 Saturday. No mistake about it tho, Cook needs to be in every possession for the rest of the season. Couldn’t believe it when he wasn’t in a few times against SU. Needs to talk to DeLuca about Krug’s mentality in 2019 after the game and maybe cnu gets to the final four again if hanway can atleast save 50% of shots. They’ll be playing next week tho.
I will agree with you on the Cook thing though.. That kid should be shooting the ball at least 12 times a game. Not a single person in D3 can guard him when he wants to get to the goal. CNU will go as far as he takes them.
Re: NCAA Tournament 2024
The Marymount game was tantamount to the Tufts/Hamilton, YCP/Eastern games IMO. The Saints played rather well, out over their skis. Cabrini answered when momentum was not in their favor and the ball just wasn't bouncing their way. Saints keeper played excellent. Very sound. I was impressed. So while that wasn't a blowout, I don't think it will have much bearing on the CNU match-up.EasternShoreLaxGuy wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 10:07 am I’m all for giving it to CNU because I feel like they have had an easier ride to a “dominant program” because of a few OT wins to a down Lynchburg program in the past few years. Krugger went unconscious in 2019. He is recorded/quoted as saying he didn't even remember his 2nd-6th goal against the Gulls. One of those in the zone, black out moments. Flow state? IDK. I don't think it has to do with mentality, I think it's just a perfect storm.
I don't know what the outcome will be against CNU. But I know the Cavs outputs will be there. They are expected to lose. I think we'll see a full strength Captains squad going to work. Might be a fun one, might be a boat race.
Much respect to CNU and Coach MT, I think they are going to a problem for the entire division for years to come. I was a small part of the journey Cabrini took on our way to being a legitimate FF participant. There is no easy road to the top.

Fair, not trying to discredit what MT and staff have done there. I have struggled the past few years with cnu being considered without question to some people on this thread as a powerhouse of D3. My PERSONAL definition of powerhouse is a program that has been at the top for a longer period of time than what they have. Not saying anyone’s opinion is wrong, just stating mine.Laxguy703 wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 11:19 amWhat are you talking about lol. Please grow up - this is not grade school. You’re just proving that you are a child in an adult body regardless of your self proclaimed wealth. Very sad.

Your memory serves you wrong there. The Tigers were a respectable 3-5, and many would consider those rebuilding years until they won the ODAC championship in 2017. My kids were a bit before your time - I remember when Christopher Newport drove to Farmville on the short bus. It has been cool to see them rise to success, even if it is to the dismay of the Tigers.Tactful Lax wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 2:27 pm Plus Hampden-Sydney was a combined one and seven against CNU when my kids played there.
Let's live in the past a little less and focus up on this year's tournament; I'll step away from the Captains slander and allow their vicarious fathers to figure out their destiny.
One knowledgeable poster on Twitter highlighted the Stevenson/Union matchup. This is another one I'll have my eye on. As much as a good Stevenson team is fun to watch, would much rather see Union push through to eventually matchup with Tufts... Unless IWU can 10-man Tufts well enough to make D'Annolfo switch from J's to Vans...

Sorry, but CNU was seven and one. I am not going to tell you what years that my kids played, but that is fact. And CNU is eight and two in the last 10 times they have played them.

Come on, that is not necessary. All I am saying is that mine got a very good education at CNU and is now doing well. I talk to CNU kids weekly, I don't interview them, and they are good kids. Maybe your interviews in that area is not the right fit for those types of CNU grads, I don't know but I would never interview several kids and then paste it towards every graduate, that's not fair. I'm glad to hear that if I need a loan I can check with you first :-). Let's just hope the Gennies remember the 1974 team at their 50th anniversary of not winning the NC, and reverse that :-).

this site has gone down hill. no wonder most of the smart old knowledgeable posters don’t post much anymore.
maybe someone can start a lax forum for fans to talk lax, instead of bashing other colleges and universities.
as the famous meme claims….. less than 7% of high school athletes continue to play in college. every kid playing at HSC or CNU or any other college, is probably having fun, and will walk away with a college degree. anyone that can put 20/hrs a week into athletics, and 15 hrs a week towards classes and several more hours studying, is probably going to be successful when they get hired.

Serious question though, how do they determine who is hosting quarterfinals and semis weekend of 5/18?
Re: NCAA Tournament 2024
The negativity is unfortunate. No coach wants to lose - choose a college based on your best research and what your goals are. The negative posts are disturbing and unwarranted.
