Sacred Heart LI beat Ridgewood in 3OT
ESM beat Nyack by a couple goals (big upset I believe?)
Suffern beat Massapequa by a bunch
Darien beat Manhasset by quite a bit - Manhasset dealing with injuries
New Canaan beat Ward Melville not particularly close
Wilton over West Islip by 3
Manhasset lost two top contributors to knee injuries. Definitely a bit wounded right now.

New Canaan vs. Wilton @6pm today. I still think NC is the best team in CT, but Wilton has the hot hand beating Darien and Ridgefield in the last week. This is a pick'em, maybe a slight edge to the Warriors playing at home.

13-4 Rams. New Canaan blew it open in the second half. CeCe Patterson is a phenomenal goalie and the NC D was relentless and physical. Best team in CT right now hands down.

St Anthony's 11 Manhasset 7 Final.

Indians played them very close. Was 10-3 at one point, then Indians dominated the rest of the way but simply ran out of time. Friars are that good. They only need one run to put most if not all teams away .

St. Paul’s School for Girls upsets McDonogh to win the IAAM A title.

Although the season isn’t over yet, it sure looks like St. Anthony’s will end up national number one this year, the first such title for the Friars.

Big upset in Northern New Jersey, Bergen County!!! Immaculate Heart Academy, Township of Washington beat Ridgewood High School in the County final. First Bergen County Team to beat them since 1995 and first team ever to beat them in the county tournament since its inception 17 years ago! IHA took them to the wire yesterday in regular season play losing by 1 in the last few seconds!

Big upset indeed. To add to the intrigue, Ridgewood is coached by the husband and IHA is coached by his wife!

Saw the Maroons in the preseason, but not since. Will see them tomorrow against Oak Knoll.

CT states starts today. Somehow Darien is the one seed in LL, yet they are two in the computer, lost in the FCIAC finals to the two seed, have a worse overall record than the two seed, and lost in the regular season to the three seed. NC should be the one seed by all accounts. Does it matter, probably not, but NC's road is notably more difficult having to play Wilton and not Ridgefield in the semis.

I cannot figure out HOW the CIAC made Darien the #1 seed and New Canaan #2. There's no rationale that makes logical or numerical sense.

Lax Numbers had them as #1 at the time of the seeding meeting last week. At that time - Darien had three regular game scores removed (against non-NFHS opponents - 2 wins and one loss) and the FCIAC tournament results were not included in that calculation at that time.

I appreciate that Laxnumbers has tried to replicate the Laxpower ranking (they called it "rating") system, but they don't do nearly as good a job. Laxpower tweaked its process over the years and even included human adjustments at times. Using humans seemed counterintuitive to the idea of having a dispassionate unbiased computer do the work, but it was necessary because the computer would get things out of whack. (Take that AI!)

NJ also uses Laxnumbers to seed our playoffs. But we have a "leap frog" rule that allows a lower ranked team to jump over the team immediately above them if they beat them in the regular season. Just looked at the NJ rankings. Having seen all of the top teams multiple times, I think the rankings are wrong. But better than nothing.

On a national level, St. Anthony's at no. 7 is just wrong. Should be no. 1.
