Florida State will take a high profile assistant or a fantastic mid major coach. Everything that I have heard is that some of the big gun candidates have been less than impressed with the road map presented by FSU admin and it is coming off as more a check the box thing then anything. This info is coming from club coaches so take it with a grain of salt.

Brian Spallina
Chris Robinson, former M&D owner
Thomson
Halfpenny
Woods
Myers
Altig
B Spallina was interviewed at his brother's recommendation
Halfpenny was given an offer and had a last minute change of heart. Hearing that Altig and Myers are the 2 favorites.
FSU is hyping up the fact that they have the most profitable camps in the country for baseball, softball and soccer and are offering new coach a 100% share of her camp revenue (which is pretty much unheard of). However, they don't have a facilities plan and would be in temporary locker rooms/fields for at least the first couple season. They are also 100% playing in fall 2026, no matter what.
Expect this to be official by end of May.
EDIT: There were likely others interviewed as well, they are just the ones i've heard about.

Will be interesting to see what conference Florida State ends up in.. ACC for now.. but not looking good long term (re: lawsuits). Where would the women's lax team end up?NULax2 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2024 6:16 pmInteresting, thanksLaxDadMax wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2024 3:20 pmThe following coaches were interviewed.spidey44 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2024 9:18 amCalling out LaxDadMax again! Unless they join a conference with lax, AAC would probably get the logical choice.laxlady07 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2024 7:11 pmWill be interesting to see what conference Florida State ends up in.. Also depending on who else joins SEC, SEC could soon have critical mass in lax.

I like Altig. Just as an outside observer with no insight into the program, it seems like the Penn State program hasn’t been the same since she left (if anyone knows better, please don’t hesitate to correct me)LaxDadMax wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2024 3:20 pmThe following coaches were interviewed.spidey44 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2024 9:18 amCalling out LaxDadMax again! Ouch. Doubt she survives that. Coupled with 3-13 this year, 4-13 last year, and 0-12 combined in the conference…. “She gone”Brownlax wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2024 11:06 am Theresa Walton - head coach at Old Dominion was suspended by the school for the JMU game for a DUI.

Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
Agree about Robinson. I have long thought he's the best HS glax coach out there. And there are some real good ones.
He's a triple threat. He can recruit, teach, and is a good in game coach. Good motivator as well. What he did at McDonogh will never be duplicated.
You'd have to think he's been approached by colleges before.
Will be interested to see what develops here.

If this is the list and I’m a little dubious that this is the actual list, I’m friendly (thanks to club ties) with at least one of the candidates who laughed and laughed at being included.LaxDadMax wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2024 3:20 pmThe following coaches were interviewed.spidey44 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2024 9:18 amCalling out LaxDadMax again! I think Myers is who should be the pick. Can bring talent in, has pre existing club relationships and can stress culture.
Thomson turned down a better set up at OSU
Woods just signed a contract extension at UCONN
Halfpenny could have had Clemson and decided against it
Robinson wants the job but not sure if FSU wants to go HS
Altig didn’t make the CAA playoffs/might hold out for PSU
Spallina don’t know much about him but a less impressive Robinson in my eyes.
Still think it goes high profile assistant. Not sure which one, but the ACC is full of associate head coaches and assistants that would be great with their own setup.

The DUI is just a footnote in the two year train wreck this coach has had with the Monarchs.Brownlax wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2024 11:06 am Theresa Walton - head coach at Old Dominion was suspended by the school for the JMU game for a DUI.

FWIW despite being severely outgunned ODU played one other their more inspired and cleaner games Sat without their coach’s negativity on the sidelines. Clears, ground balls and turnovers were all competitive with the Dukes. Hopefully the administrators were taking notice.
ODU has a rich history of Women’s athletic success on the national level. With the right leadership and resources it would be fun to see what this school could build.

Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
Well done flushlax77 on providing real insight. I certainly agree it could be an associate head coach from an ACC program. Although Myers seems logical if she wants to get back in. Your take on the Clemson gig is accurate. However, it is my understanding that O'Leary, Halfpenny, and Spencer (not in that order) were considered and all three decided against it.flushlax77 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2024 7:52 amIf this is the list and I’m a little dubious that this is the actual list, I’m friendly (thanks to club ties) with at least one of the candidates who laughed and laughed at being included.LaxDadMax wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2024 3:20 pmThe following coaches were interviewed.spidey44 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2024 9:18 amCalling out LaxDadMax again! Why do I think, with pure speculation, that Janine Tucker's name might pop up as a candidate for some of these jobs?
