No doubt it is part of it.

If I had had to go to Hartford, I would have had had to visit my sister.
Too bad, sis.

Probably. But PSU v UP would have been the dream match-up in Philly.Sativa Specialist wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2019 8:35 pm Attendance numbers will be interesting for this upcoming weekend.

TD is the key to the Penn State matchup, they will need those extra possessions in order for Yale to beat PSU. Will Yale face guard O’Keefe, probably not. 3 OT games this past weekend best ncaa qtrs of all time.

Yeah, agreed; these were the best set of quarters I can recall. I was pulling for Yale and UVA, and was heartbroken for Penn and Maryland. Only wish the Ivy rematch had been a semi- or a final. What. Re: D1 Men NCAA Tournament
Over the last several years I have watched quite a few games I found boring, even though the score was close. The beauty of this season is that never happened. Every competitive game I saw was fun to watch. Since the only thing that changed was the shot clock (well the dive too - more on that later), I'm giving the credit to the shot clock. In addition to the obvious effect of forcing offenses to sub crisply and get into something quick, we also saw a resurgence in hard riding which creates a lot of action between the restraining lines. The playoffs have been unreal and I think the over/under on PSU vs Yale should be 40. Seriously.
I'm not a fan of the dive rule for two reasons:
1. Most importantly it puts the goalie at risk of serious injury. It's a matter of time before we see a serious injury like the one suffered by the Duke pole on Saturday. Goalie is like a sitting duck.
2. It puts a lot of pressure on the officials like the stall did in previous years. So much to see - foot on the line? diving into the goal mouth? was he pushed? ball crossed plane before he landed? And it's hard for the ref to be in position to see all that and not be in the way.

I agree with both of you. It was tough to watch anyone lose this weekend, as every game was such a tremendous battle that put the leadership and effort of so many talented student athletes in the spotlight. Though I had Yale and UVA picked for the final four before the season began, I starting rooting for Penn in the second half just because I wanted to see another week of them. Murphy and his seniors have done an incredible job. And, Penn v PSU in Philly would've been, as they say, lit. Penn v Yale was legendary. Beautiful field up there Hartford, too.seacoaster wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2019 7:11 amYeah, agreed; these were the best set of quarters I can recall. As an aside here, the Yale-Penn State game features two Springfield College grads and Maine natives on the sidelines in Andy Baxter of Yale and Peter Toner of Penn State.

Re: D1 Men NCAA Tournament
wow, great game penn/yale.
to gallagher, junkin, mathias, dunn and all the other heroes from penn... fantastic effort.
defenses seem to be behind and with no counter now that the coaches have unleashed their teams... great for fans and you better be in shape and willing to play as hard as these 2 teams did if you wanna win.

Agree with this post. What a game to end the weekend. I'd have liked to see Penn win for a rematch in Philly with PSU but the Yale team earned it. Go Elis.wgdsr wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2019 9:57 am wow, great game penn/yale.

Re: D1 Men NCAA Tournament
It was tough weekend on Long Island. You had the PGA going on and some college graduations. Hotel prices were through the roof - upwards of $500 per night. Really made it tough for out of town visitors. Those numbers are way down from prior years.

Cabrini's in the finals, so they will bring out even more of the hometown next week.

Re: D1 Men NCAA Tournament
Compared to some great teams in the past (including the recent past), none of the Final Four teams play really good defense. Look at all the unassisted goals scored by Penn against Yale. For Penn State, defense seems like an afterthought. Both Duke and Virginia won shootouts.
Yes, there was some fine goalie play. But for the most part, it was a shooting gallery out there.
If you like the trash that is (may soon be “was”) the MLL, that’s ok. However, some of us appreciate a bit more balance in the game.
Fun games to watch this weekend because of the OTs, but at some points I got the same mind-numbing sensation as watching those overdone action finales in Marvel and DC flicks.

Grant Ament out of Haverford. Matt Moore played for Frank Urso at Garnet Valley. Drexel the sponsor of the Finals.
