I think that is a reasonable thought. They have a legit defense, you can say elite. When they get solid offensive play they are very dangerous. I have them #21 in my model with the #6 defense (36 on offense, which isnt good)laxfan1313 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 6:37 amI inadvertently quoted the previous poll but my point remains the same. Looks good, JoeWillie.
I do think you’re punishing the home team of Cornell too much. I suppose if you didn’t, people here would complain But the Red did push #1 to the last five seconds. That felt like a win not a loss.
Also, not sure I’m rewarding my team for beating UNC by 1. That felt like a loss not a win.
These teams don’t make it easy on you.
Re: 2024 top 20
I am not going to complain about it, but I will warn fans and teams that people are sleeping on Richmond. You do not want to draw them in the tournament.joewillie78 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 9:17 pm My top 20 April 14, 2024:

Re: 2024 top 20
The Jays dropped in the Power Rankings as well, because their margin of victory was less than the model forecast. This kind of approach addresses the critics who say the Jays and OSU are essentially equal (or at least were on a given Sunday) rather than trying to end the relative ranking discussion at a "win is a win". So, yes, a thriller loss to ND should boost Cornell's relative ranking when the ND was originally ranked far ahead.Finster wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 9:09 amjoewillie78 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 9:17 pm My top 20 April 14, 2024:

Cornell got destroyed by Penn State who JHU also just beat. Is Cornell too high? By your logic perhaps, but not to me. The Penn State game is old news. A poll is a current snapshot. Currently, Cornell came within a goal of defeating #1 ND. Last night, JHU barely squeaked by unranked OSU in OT. Cornell is exactly where it belongs. Try playing the same strength of schedule, and I'll give you more leeway for lackluster performances. You don't get credit for almost wins. By that virtue, Hopkins should be #2 as all of its losses came by 1.laxfan1313 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 7:02 pmThe Penn State game is old news. A poll is a current snapshot. I’m sure the team / fans are just devastated at the thought of losing your support. It’s a weekly poll. Losing to ND in the final seconds is far more impressive than scraping an OT win out against a 6-7 non tournament team.norcalhop wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 9:04 pmYes, obviously I don't understand the concept of a snapshot that includes prior performance. I really should have ranked ND #1 as more incentive for Cornell to beat the #1 team in the country next Sunday, but the media will take care of that this morning in their next poll.

The same team that just lost to Maryland by 1 and lost to ND by 3? Yea, they sure look like a traditional 6-7 team.BigTurn wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 9:09 pmI’m sure the team / fans are just devastated at the thought of losing your support. It’s a weekly poll. Re: 2024 top 20
Almost as impressive as losing 9-20 to PSU.

Re: 2024 top 20
FWIW: Quint, USILA, IL Media, US Lacrosse Mag, and Joe Willie (not necessarily in that order of priority) all have Hop at #3 this week.
