Nice article by Patrick Stevens over at US Lax Magazine on Wyatt Knust’s past couple weeks, including quotes from Knust and Buczek.

Cornell 2024
Re: Cornell 2024
Yes, I was there in Baltimore. Rodgers was a beast for ND in goal.

Re: Cornell 2024
I was at the game as well. ND's e tire defense was lights out, just not Rogers. Unfortunately, the Big Red offense, pretty much couldn't do a thing all day.
ND's relatively unhearalded FOGO dominated that day as well.
I believe this was Coach T's last game.
'Also attended the prior Cornell - ND game in 2007. It was an SRO crowd at Hewlett HS. Cornell played very well that day, sort of "came of age" from my perspective. I recall that ND's featured attackman that day was the football team's starting tight end, Will Yeatman. I think he was a "broad" 6'6" and made Nick Gradinger the Cornell pole guarding him (who was a big guy) look small. Yeatman didn't do much and Cornell came away with a great W.

Harvard 6, Penn 5 in the 2nd.
C'mon Hahvahd!
EDIT: Harvard 9-7 at the half. If Harvard wins, Cornell controls its own destiny re: hosting the Ivies.

Harvard & Penn tied at 12 with 6 minutes to go. If Harvard could prevail, the Big Red will control its destiny to host the tourney, with Harvard & Dartmouth left to play!

Re: Cornell 2024
Yes, the ND preview says that. Saw that game in Baltimore.
Re: Cornell 2024
Ivy Tourney hosting be damned, it’s not clear to me that Harvard winning this is preferable to one of our losses continuing to win (while also hoping they lose to Princeton later). This obviously assumes we take care of our end when we play Harvard.

14-12 now. Looks like a missed opportunity but Penn still has to play Princeton next week.laxfan1313 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 3:01 pm13-12 Penn with 4 minutes left.laxfan1313 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 2:54 pm Harvard & Penn tied at 12 with 6 minutes to go. Re: Cornell 2024
semsox is correct. There is a possible scenario that "we" wanted Penn to win, not Harvard.
That is, if Harvard had won and Cornell lost to Harvard, there would have been a scenario where Cornell would have been out with a 4-2 record (depending on P & Y results).
Now that Harvard has lost, Cornell with a win against Dartmouth would be 4-2 and in the ILT.
*Only issue now is whether Penn looses to Princeton. If they do and Cornell beats Harvard, then Cornell hosts the ILT.

If Cornell defeats Harvard & Dartmouth & Penn loses to Princeton, the tourney is in Ithaca.VeryRustyRed wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 3:58 pm semsox is correct. There is a possible scenario that "we" wanted Penn to win, not Harvard.

If Cornell, Yale, and Penn all finish 5-1 then Cornell hosts based on goal differential in games between these teamslaxfan1313 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 4:18 pmIf Cornell defeats Harvard & Dartmouth & Penn loses to Princeton, the tourney is in Ithaca.VeryRustyRed wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 3:58 pm semsox is correct. Re: Cornell 2024
Today, after 10 games, 7 wins, two close losses and one anomaly, we are going to find out if the Big Red is merely a good Ivy League team or a National Champion contender. If those two close losses had gone the other way, Cornell would be top 5 right now. The team has the personnel to compete for a NC. Certainly a top 3 Attack - 1st line Middie combo. A scrappy faceoff crew. ND isn't overwhelming in faceoffs so the Big Red will get its share of possessions. A big key is whether Wyatt Knust can keep up his stellar play at goal in the most recent 6 quarters. I don't expect 75% but 55% would be great. As usual, the question revolves around the defense. We've suffered key losses, Wallace, Davis, Bozzi, and Cascadden at faceoff, but Singer, Follows, Staub have done well and Gilmartin and Dooley have been great. The Fighting Irish put on their pants the same way as anyone. As Coach Moran would say, the ground ball battle will be the key stat. The spirits of Mario St. George Boiardi and Coach Moran will be smiling down on the Big Red today. As it says on the plaque on the Schoellkopf wall honoring Coach Moran, the enduring culture of our lacrosse program thrives today. We have a great team and great coaches. Today is the day to show the lacrosse world that the Big Red is a contender! GO BIG RED!!

Re: Cornell 2024
That's awesome to know. Thanks!
Yale's only Ivy game remaining is against Princeton. A Yale win in that game, or a Penn loss to Princeton, and Cornell controls their own destiny re: hosting the ILT.
I really like those odds.
Not to say Cornell has a walk in the park; Harvard is absolutely not an easy out, and will likely be playing with a slim chance of making the ILT on the line. They will be hungry. And Dartmouth is improved this season.
Re: Cornell 2024
Good luck to the Cornell Big Red this afternoon on Long Island. Here's hoping for a Cornell win.
Re: Cornell 2024
Any information on returns of Bozzi, Davis and Wallace?

Re: Cornell 2024
After 3 quarters, Notre Dame leads 14-13. Regardless of how this turns out, the Big Red has proven it can compete with the best in the country. Mark Psyllos is the clear MVP for Cornell. What a tenacious, courageous player!

15 All with just over 8 minutes left. Timeout Cornell. ND possession.
