55 has more turnovers tonight than he has goals in the last 7 games. 41 hasn't scored a goal in almost a year. 13 has 1 goal all year. This is your second midfield, which continues to get shift after shift. Talk about earning your minutes.

Anyone see 10 on the sideline?

Defense and McNaney were amazing. Great to see Brennan with a really nice goal. He can get himself open shots; just a baffling 2 years of zero productivity. If he can make plays like that, it brings the Maryland offense to another level.

Otherwise, the offense was mediocre, or on par for the season. Well below the elite teams. Kelly has stepped up with Maltz out. Lots of zeros again from top line goes though. Rutgers goalie was excellent, and sort of figured out that they were shooting 100% 5 hole until Brennan's sweet lefty sling.

Strong 4th quarter. That's 3 straight weeks with some strong offensive answers in the 4Q when required. In fact, 12 goals on 33 possessions (37% efficiency) in the 4Q last 3 weeks. Could be nothing. Or could be something.

Conversely, in the 1Q, 5-of-32 = 16%. Not great!

Mac is back. That is very good news. Defense has defended picks and two man games much better the last two weeks, which is the key for this defense as we know how well they will defend 1v1 with the close D. Of course, these two teams are a different test compared to Penn State and so too will be Hopkins. Schaller had a really nice game, nice to see. Clearing has been much improved, the failed clear at the end of the 3rd aside. They've begun to beat themselves less and less. This is the key. Especially since I'm not sure we're ever going to see Peak Wierman again, but awesome to see him get a goal.

I called em out, so gotta eat the crow. Great goal for Whittier, and especially great goal for Brennan. He looked like he scored a goal to go to the Final Four. Good for him man. Hopefully it leads to some much needed confidence and juice for them. The shot Whittier passed up before his goal almost made you cringe. He needs to take that and hopefully scoring allows him to just grip it and rip it. 2 goals for them, up to 3 for those two. Still plenty of games left, keep building.

Overall, by the end, probably the teams best performance in awhile. Not without things to work on and plenty of periods of struggle, but we know what this team is. Keep limiting the mistakes, play great D, get more guys chipping in on O, let's see what happens.

Can't wait to be at Homewood next weekend. Get the Crab back.

Not sure if it's that the B1G opponents are just not as good as UVA & ND's (actually, pretty sure they aren't), but the SSDM's look tremendously improved. Beautiful switching, sliding and communication. Also much improved clearing aside from some baffling carelessness from offensive guys.

We were the better team, but that non-goal was a huge rally killer for Rutgers. After the following goal, it should have been tied up and the dynamic changes a lot. Seems like a stupid B1G stand to not review goals at least.

He left the field right after he scored his goal towards the end of the 2nd, but was coming back out in the last seconds of the quarter. Looks like he was playing with head of his lacrosse stick. Must of had an issue equipment

thanks.

Hope it’s not serious. Looked like he was referencing the top of his hand when he took his glove off.

If we can beat Hopkins to win the B1G is a huge triumph for the coaches and program. It would be totally maxing out potential for this group

Looked like Erksa had a finger out of place but that was just from the TV shot. Certainly more than an equipment problem

Totally maxing out may be a bit hyperbolic, but beating Hopkins' best team in a decade and PSU's highly ranked squad with one of our weakest offensive teams in a long time would be great. If UNC could win a national championship in 2016, I'd think it's possible for this Maryland team. Not likely, but I think there's a higher max ceiling than just winning this B1G.

A lot will depend on the draw in the tournament. One more win should wrap-up a home game for the tournament, which will be huge. Win out and you're talking potential for a very, very high seed. The goal should be to avoid ND/UVA in a Quarterfinal and probably a Hop rematch as well. I think they could get one of those teams - they play their best, that team has maybe an off day - but beating 2-3 of them to win the tournament, in a row, would be very, very tough. Working themselves into position to have a good Quarterfinal opponent, a spot where Tillman has only ever lost once - and we know how that happened - would be ideal. That's what they did last year but they lost R1 to Army, and they still should have won that game.

Step 1: Get the home game
Step 2: Get as high a seed as possible
Step 3: Take care of business in the dance

Can take care of Step 1 next week

When Patrick Stevens does his next bracket this week, he's going to pare down the number of possible at-large teams in the pool. Princeton out with the loss to Brown. Rutgers out. Michigan out. Army out. Georgetown hanging on by a thread but since so few teams have worth at-large resumes, they're hanging on. Pretty wild season.

The defense played great tonight. Rutgers is really thin on offense, but still...holding that group to 6 goals (one a pole goal in transition) is a real accomplishment.

The offense after the first quarter, where they turned the ball over 6 times and had just 6 shots, was pretty good. Only 30 shots but 25 on goal.

Ryan Siracusa has become a very good midfielder. He's their most consistent midfielder. Period. Check the logs and see that he's the only midfielder to score a goal in every game this season. Rutgers ran double teams at him every time he dodged from up top. Not only did he handle the pressure well, but he moved the ball, which ultimately made Rutgers pay for the strategy. It seemed like he was involved in almost every goal that was scored when that first midfield line was out there.

Georgetown is probably still the last team in. It’s either them or Penn, and Georgetown beat them H2H
