Re: Games Today
The UVA goalie had played great in the first half, but then committed that knuckleheaded turnover right at the end of the half. JUST HOLD THE BALL.
After Boston scored, I wondered if this was going to be a turning point. Sure looked like it when the Eagles scored goal after goal to tie the game in the third quarter.
Much credit to the Cavaliers for weathering the storm, bouncing back, and pulling out the victory.
Big party in Hoo-ville tonight.

Re: Games Today
Weathered the storm. Showed good composure. The players really seemed to buy into the program.njbill wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 6:55 pm The UVA goalie had played great in the first half, but then committed that knuckleheaded turnover right at the end of the half. JUST HOLD THE BALL.

I saw her smiling as she was congratulating the UVA coaches. Good on her for that. Very tough situation to be smiling.Essexfenwick wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 7:01 pm

Re: Games Today
Agreed. I was particularly impressed with the way the UVA goalie bounced back after the end of the first half and the third quarter. But, after all, she is a Jersey girl.Bart wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 7:28 pmWeathered the storm. Showed good composure. Re: Games Today
Fun fact, UVA's Galica and Rachel Clark played on same high school team
Re: Games Today
Good game for UVA. Puts them back into the discussion for a seed in the tournament. Answers some questions from that Duke loss, but makes it even more puzzling. IMO BC has had a goalie problem for a few years. They seem to get very good and athletic goalies, but these goalies are extremely inconsistent. This is something they need to fix if they want to be a final 4 team this year.
Re: Games Today
9-9 at the end of 3, had to miss the 4th qtr. Just watched it on replay.....what a game! Best I've seen Va look this year.

As for Acacia, she smiled and hugged the LaMonica's after the game beginning at the 0:50 mark.
Re: Games Today
I would put Cuse's Benoit in that discussion, she too has been fantastic.

Re: Games Today
DiNardo and galica have been hugely impactful. So has Alaimo, but to a lesser extent.
Benoit having a great year but doesn’t have the sort of gaudy ct and gb numbers that would enable a defender to win this award.
Given how much uva has exceeded expectations, and the extent to which the first years have contributed, that one of those two will win it.
Can redshirt frosh win? If so, then Mel josephson wins hands down for me….

Re: Games Today
I remember watching a broadcast of a PIAA game (district playoffs? state playoffs?) that my nephew was calling. Stoga vs. Unionville at Stoga. Unionville with the upset. Clark, the senior, a non-factor in the game for the Pioneers. Unionville shut her down ... and Stoga outcoached IMO. Some sophomore named Galica nearly put the team on her back to prevent the loss. Kid has game.

I seem to recall some discussion on this forum about the impact of the freshman and sophomores on UVA ...
