Really nice effort by the Devils tonight after surrendering three quick ones right at the start and pulling TU. McCann came in and allowed only one more in the half while the whole defensive unit tightened things up. The half field defensive pressure in the second half seemed to really unsettle the Spiders. Also impressed by what seemed like a low number of turnovers in such terrible conditions.

Coach doesn't want to point out one player on defense for credit and he wants to make it about all 7 guys, but CVR deserves a big shoutout for his performance against Spencer. Fabulous individual effort. TU deserves huge praise for a great game between the pipes. He clearly saw the ball well all night. I loved how active he was out of the cage and his clears were excellent. Terrific shooting by several players including Montgomery and Smith. And I really liked Manown's energy. He's become really fun to watch and a guy who I'm sure brings a lot of excitement to his offensive mates. Finally, it was a superb effort on both ends of the field getting after ground balls. As soon as the ball hit the turf, a Duke guy was on it and most of the time they scooped it on the first pass. Very impressive. Coach pointed out that they need to work on the O against the zone, and I'd say the faceoff game was lacking a bit tonight. Two good focus areas going forward. Overall, a tremendous effort by our boys.

Great to see the coaches getting all the reserves in at the end of the Utah game. Some coaches don't do that.

How is Duke going to handle Rowlett? Maybe the refs might throw a few flags his way?

Maybe. They had trouble with a few teams this season. That's why they play the games.....

Some would argue that Duke is better than Virginia, who having lost to High Point of the So Co, played Richmond as they did Utah and Marist. Duke tends to blow a few head scratchers early in the season, and in recent years OSU and Loyola have embarrassed th in the NCAAT, but those teams were considerably better than the Spiders .

....what happened?

On the positive side, he's young. He'll be back.

Yep. All injuries are different of course, but look how well Conrad is doing just one year later.

I hope he is ok too. But w/o knowing the nature of the break it’s difficult to know the prognosis. Should be clear in a day or two
