Johns Hopkins 2024

pretty dumb play off of the time out. Don't run down the sideline....

I’m leaning to the latter.
Hard to be better than 60%
Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
This could still end up being a good win, just got out of Rutgers with a win,
next.

Just seemed so far outside of reality that tongue in cheek would be possible explanation.Finster wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 6:28 pmMDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 6:20 pmHad to be huge tongue in cheek...or foot in mouth, if not.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
We've seen plenty of dumb plays out of timeouts from this team. Good win, but inconsistent. If you can't put away teams, you'll be staring down double digit deficits soon enough. When i watch a UVa game, they might be 4-3 but it'll be soon be 9-5 soon enough.

Character Win
Rutgers came back hard.MDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 6:11 pmGuess "produce" was the choice.DocBarrister wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 5:28 pm Rutgers goes to zone and the Blue Jays seemed flummoxed.
Come on, man.
Melendez needs to produce or be benched.

Melendez playing a bad game until he scored two key goals in the 4th quarter. That was clutch.
Ierlan and the Hopkins D with an absolutely stellar game.
Angelus and Degnon leading the way.
Blue Jays showed some real character with this win.
The season is back on track … at least for now.

Not a good game for the rest of the Big 10. Angelus waking up could make Hopkins a legit contender. He has been the missing piece and finally showed up in the 2nd halfDocBarrister wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 6:42 pmRutgers came back hard.MDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 6:11 pmGuess "produce" was the choice.DocBarrister wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 5:28 pm Rutgers goes to zone and the Blue Jays seemed flummoxed.

Can we give Lerlan Man of the Match despite his horrible play? Exhale.
Jays win at Rutgers for only the second time (2-6).
Melendez was clutch when Rutgers had all the momentum.

I am no Hopkins fan, but if Angelus returns to 2023 form, Hopkins is a final 4 contender. The teams that can put together four good quarters in anything resembling a consistent manner will go far this season.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
More activity than we've seen from Melendez in awhile but they still need much much more. Way too much pressure on the defense in another game that should've been put away long before the 4th. I talked about this a lot here last year. They need to run up the score when they're doing well, not just sit on leads and wait for teams to catch up. That's Crawley stepping up recognizing defensive adjustments and making them and more contributions from more folks.
I really hope Degnon/Angelus/Smith get to Memorial Day. They've sure earned it after years of giving an incredible effort every week like this one today. Not many Hopkins/ACC/Maryland players have been asked to get their teams from where this program was a few years ago back to where it could still go this season. Usually it's "Welcome to Blue Blood U, here's your teammates who were 2nd or 3rd weekend ncaa tournament guys last year, here are some tips they can share about getting there". These guys had to come back from the abyss of the abyss. Coaching changes etc.
More than half a season into d1 for Ayers and Chauvette plus all those practices, hopefully we see the experience and confidence start to kick in down the stretch. They are going to really need the extra push on offense.
I could be wrong but looks like we're seeing the younger martin more.
Sweep Michigan/OSU, split psu/maryland-a doable thing and a round 1 bye is gettable for b1g tournament. Don't know where it is this year.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
Was at the game. Some really dumb comments in this thread during the game but that’s nothing new.
JayBlue has to be a troll or a closet Cornell fan because Ierlan was *excellent* today despite the sun being in his eyes half the game. He’s been rock solid all year.
Smith absolutely owns Ross Scott. Poor guy must see #18 in his nightmares. Knoblauch is fantastic but he’s really their only guy who scares you. Scott couldn’t dodge any of our poles.
Nice game for Callahan but the wings are still not getting it done.
The momentum in the stadium completely shifted on Melendez’s first goal. He came to life after that, looked more like himself. Maybe he just needed to see one go in. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for the stretch run.
Road wins in this conference do not come easy. Nice step forward to get back on track, but lots more to do. Onto Michigan.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
....you guys have the biggest glass-half empty fans (or trolls posing as fans) in the sport. Your guys beat a BigTen team on their field by five, and they still find ways to throw stones.
All I can figure is that they're only watching Hop games, and not noticing that every top 20 team is fighting to get wins.
You're nuts if you think Hopkins can't make the Final Four. Who gets hot in May, is what it will come down to....and if you don't bring your A game in the Tournament, expect to be sent home.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
I'm watching UVa and they sure aren't struggling to get wins. Their one loss was against Hopkins, which was without UVa's top FO.a fan wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 7:26 pm....you guys have the biggest glass-half empty fans (or trolls posing as fans) in the sport. Perhaps I'm overly harsh on Hopkins, but true title contenders cannot have offenses disappear for stretches at a time against opponents out of the top 10 across multiple games.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
Teams change through out a season. Sometimes it’s injury and it is a negative change. Sometimes a player breaks out and changes the direction positively. Most teams have a clunker during the season. Winning the tournament is about peaking at the right time, unless you are that Maryland NC team a few years ago.norcalhop wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 7:34 pmI'm watching UVa and they sure aren't struggling to get wins. I hope you appreciate the irony of your posts. Hopkins can’t be a contender, they don’t look like UVa, whom they beat.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
Because we won face-offs against their back-ups.
That said, while the Jays do not have a single ace, in the heat of May it is nice to have two decent options.

Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
If UVa were to play Hopkins next weekend with their top faceoff man, would you put significant money in your mouth and bet on Hopkins? No, i don't think so. Yes, teams change during the course of a season. We see that loud and clear with Hopkins vs UVa. One is peaking, the other is shaky.coda wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 7:44 pmTeams change through out a season. Sometimes it’s injury and it is a negative change.
