Let's revisit our predictions now:
I'm sticking with 3 but removing my beloved Big Red and replacing them with Yale.

Let's revisit our predictions now:
I think NC contenders are starting to emerge. I got UVa, Duke, ND, PSU, and Hopkins.joewillie78 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2024 6:59 pmLet's revisit our predictions now:

All of those are legit -- I'd add Army and Maryland. Army with a very good goalie and a great FOGO, along with at least one elite pole and maybe the country's best midfielder -- they could make a tournament run (aided by a high seed/friendly bracket both of which they'll likely get). And Tillman teams always get better down the stretch -- they too have a great goalie/FOGO/elite pole combo that is interesting.coda wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2024 7:29 pmI think NC contenders are starting to emerge. I could be convinced to add Army. I am out on Maryland. I think they have final 4 caliber defense and specialists, but I am not buying that offense. That needs to improve for me to move them upThe Orfling wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2024 7:36 pmAll of those are legit -- I'd add Army and Maryland. I don’t know. While they came to life late in the game against Richmond, that’s two games in a row that Dukes offense has been stifled.random observer wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2024 8:01 am History says to just write this game off. Duke always struggles with Cuse no matter what -- last year was their only win ever in the dome, and even then it took OT from a stacked Duke team against a very down version of the Orange.
A golden rule that holds true 90% of the time in the regular season is that Cuse will beat Duke, Duke will beat UVA, UVA will beat ND, and ND will beat Duke. Weirdly enough, once the NCAA tournament hits, all of these matchups flip the other way (save for last year's final between Duke and ND).
On the flip side, they gave up 13 goals over 120 minutes against Cuse and Richmond. The defense is still rock solid (including the SSDMs), they have an elite FOGO, and they have great play in goal which has not been a given typically. When your biggest concern is a unit featuring O'Neill, Zwada, and Williams, you're in good shape.rolldodge wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2024 8:46 amI don’t know. That was quite the rotten egg last night. How do you score a total of 4 goals with that amount of offensive talent on the team? I get that Mark was great, but how can that possibly happen? Are the Duke fans starting to get frustrated with Danowski? Seems like they regularly underperform their talent level. Every year, they are one of the top 2-3 most talented teams in the country. 2014 is getting to be a while ago.random observer wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2024 12:17 pm

Also the 2021 Blue Devils had similar offensive sputters, and though their season ended with a thud they still made it to the Final Four.
Which is completely ridiculous. Duke has been to the final four 3 of the past 4 years.nyjay wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2024 12:29 pmThat was quite the rotten egg last night. and missed the tournament once - and each year with a supremely talented roster. again, I said "starting to get frustrated". of course it's hard to win an NC and there is a lot of luck involved, but I think it's plenty fair (and certainly not ridiculous) to say they've underperformed their talent level.coda wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2024 12:32 pmWhich is completely ridiculous.
