We all should've learned by now that Manhasset doesn't really rebuild. It reloads.JoeMauer89 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 10:35 pmYes, there will be some growing pains for sure but they will still be a tough out.fordmaddoxford wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 5:58 pmIn addition to Girard they lost an absolute ton including P.J.Flood as well as D1’s Connor, Haggerty, Cargiulo, Petersen, and Lapina; will be a tall order to even come close to the fantastic season they had last year.JoeMauer89 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2024 6:14 pmThey have arguably the strongest defense in LI. Lost their all-world FO Cal Girard but have a strong but young offense and a very solid senior returning goalie in Matt Im. Should be a strong squad, obviously weaker than last year, but still looking at a strong year!

Re: Long Island 2024
I had heard a couple months ago that this schedule change was going to happen in Nassau and while I like it for the top teams how does a program that might be mid tier now ever crack that lineup to advance ? I know the girls have a relegation type system and will the boys have the same thing ?
Re: Long Island 2024
That is what I would expect. It works really well with the girls...they have a lot more competitive games doing it that way.flyerfan17 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 2:07 pm I had heard a couple months ago that this schedule change was going to happen in Nassau and while I like it for the top teams how does a program that might be mid tier now ever crack that lineup to advance ? Kismet,
Thanks for the reminder, I had HHH West on my mind because that's where Tom Rooney went I believe, after Port. I would imagine he is the coach of the combined team, but not 100% sure. This is how this OOC matchup started, because of that connection, that I do know!

Re: Long Island 2024
Current combined coach is Connor Hagans (as he was last year for the first year of combined program) - with the combined team they have a shot at their first county or Long Island championship since 1962. That's 62 years if you're counting.JoeMauer89 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 7:20 pmKismet,

I seem to recall Manhasset vs Port in the 80s….i didn’t play but friends did and I’m pretty sure they played regular season.fordmaddoxford wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 6:02 pmI recall a game on the front field (won by Manhasset) featuring Chris Kane for Port and John Driscoll for Manhasset. But, yes, maybe it could have been a playoff game. Kane graduated from Port in ‘74 so that must have been the year.JoeMauer89 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 10:29 pm Manhasset vs Shoreham Wading River on 4/14/24 at LIU Post in Old Brookville NY (This is a Sunday, the game is at 3:30 after Notre Dame Vs Cornell at the same venue.)
Here is the rest of the non conference schedule below:
3/30/24 - John Jay Cross-River (Home)
4/2/24- Ridgefield CT (Away)
4/7/24- Darien CT (Away)
4/26/24- Rumson-Fair Haven NJ (Home)
5/11/24 - Chaminade (Home)
During the regular season they will now face Port Washington ( Not sure they have ever met before in regular season, maybe in the early 2000's!), Farmingdale( I believe they met once before in the early 2000's!), Cold Spring Harbor, Garden City (Game is on 4/20/24 at Manhasset), Syosset, Massapequa, Wantagh & South Side.
Can't wait for the action to begin!

What a beast of a schedule! Midfield is going to be a big drop off vs last year, I’m very curious how they hold up because almost every game on this schedule will be a big test….do we know if they’ll be streaming most games?

Manhasset is 4-0 vs Port since 1982. They beat them in 1983,1986,2003 and 2004kr522 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 11:45 pmI seem to recall Manhasset vs Port in the 80s….i didn’t play but friends did and I’m pretty sure they played regular season.fordmaddoxford wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 6:02 pmI recall a game on the front field (won by Manhasset) featuring Chris Kane for Port and John Driscoll for Manhasset. According to the Cold Spring Harbor website, CSH starts the season against Manhasset on Friday 3/22/24 7PM at CSH. Should be interesting as both programs lost a lot to graduation.
Re: Long Island 2024
Did CSH lose more than usual? I remember seeing some underclassmen who were very good last year, I think one is a freshman

kr, I don’t know that they lost more than would normally be expected. I think the player you have in mind is Roger Testa (A). I thought he was a Freshman too but he’s listed as a 2025 on IL. He and Michigan commit Alex Bauer (M) class of 2025 appear to be their best returning players.
Re: Long Island 2024
Thx, Testa is definitely the guy. Maybe the memory is slipping and the years are blending together.fordmaddoxford wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 12:49 pmkr, I don’t know that they lost more than would normally be expected. Wrt Manhasset The thing I feel good about is Cromwell knows how to get the offense going, and they’re bringing back a lot of D and the goalie. But the midfield loss is concerning, that’s tough to replace. And I don’t know if they have a good FO kid coming up. You have any insights there?

Cal Girard was an all time MHS great. The faceoffs he did not take were taken by Tyler Giacobbe who also graduated. I have no inside information on who might be handling those chores this season but suffice it to say the win percentage can be expected to be closer to 50 than 90. Top schools have beefed up schedules this year. Objectively, I see 2 "mail it in" wins. Apart from those, games will be competitive with Manhasset in the underdog role in many.

Tyler Giacobbe is a 2024 who will be taking Face-Off's this year for Manhasset. He's obviously not Cal Girard but hes not inexperienced. Manhasset will be better than people think with a very strong defense headlined by Jack Mulholland, Jack Morrison and Rowan Collins. Plus, Matt Im returns in goal with a talented backup in 2025 Henry Griffith. They have some young talent on offense as well. They will be there in the end as they always are. Hoping to check them out against SWR at LIU Post on 4/14/24!

laxnumbers has the Nassau schedules up and man, somebody in the power league is going to have a terrible record that their fans are not used to seeing.
