Sorry, that was harsh. But seriously....

Could it be that the player just loves playing the game and doesnt worry about all those accolades? If so, pretty easy to understand her motivation....MolonLaxe wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2024 12:42 pm Regardless of how the season goes for Scane, she will still be one of the greats.
My comment regarding motivation is more around what is there left for her to do? She's had to overcome being from Michigan, battled back from career ending/career changing injuries, won a national title, Tewaarton, and who knows what else happens from here. It's still early season, but I just want to hear her say what her current motivation is? Winning another title? Breaking some goal? Maybe she doesn't care because she has nothing to prove?
Post season this is the one person I want a big interview with so I can hear it! (I'm amazed by how she plays and I don't think she's fallen off, btw.)

Izzy is so good that when she's not putting up 6 or 7 goals a game people think she's done. She'll be fine. NU is not as good as they were last year but Izzy Scane is still the best player in college lacrosse by a long margin

Chicken Little Mentality
It never ceases to amaze me how a very simple observation can get blown all out of proportion--especially on these boards, my goodness. Reminds me of the story of Chicken Little. One little misinterpreted event and... THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!
Or in this case... IZZY'S QUIT! IZZY'S LOST IT! IZZY DOESN'T CARE ANYMORE! IZZY'S BECOME JADED!
Silly overwrought nonsense. A careful reading of the comments reveal no such conclusions arrived at. Just a few folks sharing thoughts, impressions, observations, speculations. Doesn't anyone know how to ask questions for clarity anymore? Nope--let's just assume the worst and wade right on in with the presumptions. Incredible, but then considering where it all happened--not really that difficult to believe.

Loyola at Johns Hopkins 4pm
Big time test for the #12 Blue Jays today as they host the #9 AintNoDogs at Homewood. Easily the marquee matchup for a mid week clash. If I was setting the line for the game, I'd have to go with something conservative like Loyola -3. Big spot for Hop to pull the upset, though. (Where's my lucky "Hopkins blue" sweater...?)
Streaming on HopTV https://www.centennialconference.tv/hopkinssports/
The broadcast production quality is usually pretty decent.

Re: Loyola at Johns Hopkins 4pm
Hop looked good through three quarters and then crunch time came. They made some poor shot selections at times. The coaching staff getting a yellow card was embarrassing. The players aren't the only ones going through growing pains. Hop still has a bit to go before they get to that next level of composure and killer instinct when the game is in the balance. I thought they were gaining in maturity but they took a little step backwards today.OuttaNowhereWregget wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 4:25 am Big time test for the #12 Blue Jays today as they host the #9 AintNoDogs at Homewood. On to the University of Pennsylvania Saturday. Hop will try to take back a win they let slip away when the two teams played last year.
A lot of talent on this team. Hopefully they get to that next plateau this season in time for the conference championships and NCAA's.
(Nailed that line though, didn't I?)

Re: OuttaNowhereWregget--Redux
The two best teams in the nation are in action today. BC's game at Robert Morris will be a veritable scrimmage. The Wildcats will have a little more resistance at Colorado. Snow in the AM forecast with temps in the mid 40's by game time. In the old days snow and cold were what Northwestern was used to. Now with their comfy cozy cushy field house palace on Lake Michigan, one has to wonder how the players feel playing out in the snow and wind and cold. Then later, JMU should make quick work of the Tigers at Sentara.
If I was forced to make the lines?
BC -10
NU - 5
JMU - 7
(I've heard rumors that one can now bet on NCAA D1 women's lacrosse. [Any confirmations/links on that?] Not that I would engage as gambling can be a very slippery slope; but as Matnum wrote recently--it is interesting to look at the lines.)

RMU lost to Cincy 15-0. Gotta set the line for the BC game to AT LEAST BC -15. Spidey's Sportsbook has it at -17. I think the NW line is too low as well, but that game will be (hopefully) better competition. JMU line looks about right.OuttaNowhereWregget wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2024 8:27 am The two best teams in the nation are in action today. BC's game at Robert Morris will be a veritable scrimmage. Quick look at FanDuel and DraftKings shows you can bet on men's, but I don't see any women's lines.OuttaNowhereWregget wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2024 8:27 am

"Spidey's Sportsbook" Haha--love it! Hey--this could turn out to be fun. Maybe we could do imaginary bets like they used to do in the local sports pages until the gambling floodgates were opened wide. Players (us, not them) would start with an imaginary bank roll of say $1000. What do you think? Any other ideas?spidey44 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2024 8:37 amRMU lost to Cincy 15-0. I'll tell you what--I'll take Robert Morris getting 17 points at home all day long.

BC-RMU line is like SEC football vs FCS teams. The line is whatever BC wants it to be. I watched Cincy last week vs Michigan and they aren't super talented. BC second string handles Cincy pretty easily. I would say BC-22 might be a decent line. Would still take BC

-17 should be the first half line.
