Interesting. Maybe a little of both. UConn

Re: Games Today
I'm not that familiar with Fairfield's team, but they finished #22 in the RPI last year and made the tournament. Doesn't seem like that big of an embarrassment.
Re: Games Today
Wow, the Dukes with the running clock before halftime. Definitely thought they'd win, but didn't expect that blowout.

Fairfield is almost always in the mix for their conference championship. Makes me think of Mercer.
Not surprised they put some hurt on UConn. I don’t think they’ve made great recruiting decisions or developed nearly like I’d expect them to be based on the school name.

Re: Games Today
Clemson should have been able to handle a short handed Furman team with 20 players and an interim coach. Think Kwolek thought she had scheduled more of a cupcake.
Re: Games Today
I agree with UConn recruiting. They made some weird decisions. The biggest one that I think will bite them down the road is passing on a phenomenal goalie from CO whose top choice was UConn. Goalie committed to Virginia the next day. They wound up taken a goalie from Metro in Suffern, NY.MolonLaxe wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 8:06 pm Fairfield is almost always in the mix for their conference championship. Makes me think of Mercer.

And the Holy Cross team that beat Fairfield Saturday just lost to Bryant. Gonna be a fun year.

Re: Games Today
Nothing suggests to me clemson is going to be a top 25 team other than hype. They lost EVERYTHING from last year. It’s a completely new team. Full of decent but not great transfers. And some decent young players. That’s a bubbleish top 30 team. They were 34 last year btw in rpi. Not 25 or 20.laxfan9999 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 8:41 pm Clemson should have been able to handle a short handed Furman team with 20 players and an interim coach. They may be strong in another year or two. But not yet….
Re: Games Today
There were more turnovers, 44, than shots, 39, in the game. Didn't see it but must have been an ugly game.laxfan9999 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 8:41 pm Clemson should have been able to handle a short handed Furman team with 20 players and an interim coach. Re: Games Today
Michigan played mostly juniors and seniors yesterday, so they're an experienced team. It will be a good test this weekend against Denver. Kaylee Dyer looks to be a great counter to Jill Smith.

Re: Games Today
Michigan seemed to struggle with the Cincy zone even getting back to back shot clock violations. I can't wait to see the problems they will have with Denver's zone. Also it was interesting to see that the girl who started every game in goal for Michigan last year is now the backup.
Re: Games Today
Michigan has struggled with Denver's zone the past two years. Michigan alternates from moving the ball fast to complete brain farts, stalling with the ball and losing track of the plan. It will be fun to see if this happens again this year.laxfan9999 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 3:02 pm Michigan seemed to struggle with the Cincy zone even getting back to back shot clock violations. Re: Games Today
Erin O'Grady is a great goalie. Currently has 16 saves in 2 games while only giving up 3 goals. She came from an excellent St. Anthony's team on Long Islandlaxfan9999 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 3:02 pm Michigan seemed to struggle with the Cincy zone even getting back to back shot clock violations. Re: Games Today
She is a really good goalie. Was she hurt last year? She hardly played while the other goalie started every game.
Re: Games Today
Marquette / Louisville game back and forth until middle of 4th quarter where Louisville has pulled ahead by 4. Sloppy game at the beginning but lots grit and hustle by both teams.
Re: Games Today
When Marquette up 7-5 with 3 left in the 3rd, to a big 14-8 win was a wild swing I didn't expect. Louisville's goalie had a banger of a day.

Re: Games Today
With 50 saves in the team's first three games, she picked up right where she left off last year, when she had 17 (Duke), 18 (Notre Dame) and 16 (Duke) in the last three games of 2023. If those handing out national accolades seriously looked at those actually deserving, she should be near the top of any goalie ranking.
