Amanda Knox is back on trial in Italy, "and this is a good thing," she wrote in October in explaining what was to come. Knox was convicted of slander for wrongly accusing the owner of a bar where she worked part-time of murdering roommate Meredith Kercher in Italy in 2007. That defamation conviction is the only remaining "legal stain" against her, reports the AP. She asked for it to be thrown out based on a years-old ruling by the European Court of Human Rights that the interrogation in which she pointed a finger at Patrick Lumumba occurred without a lawyer present—and with Italian police cautioning her that getting one would only make her situation worse, reports the Independent. Italy's top court ordered a retrial of the slander conviction in October.

I hope they’re ready for more, because the communists are growing in number around the world. Workers and youth are drawing increasingly radical conclusions as they fall deeper into poverty, the rich get richer, the world burns around them, and capitalism proves itself incapable of moving society forward or providing solutions to any our most pressing problems. Let the ruling classes tremble.


It could well be that it is the ultra right promoting this as it causes more trouble for all and fund raising/profiting for them.

This is the car my g-son and son have been putting together for the g-son
to go smash into a heap in tomorrow's demolition derby. Lotta work, time,
and money goes into that. Makes perfect sense, right?

Brings back memories of ABC's Wide World of Sports. Seemed like they had a demolition derby on every few months. Glad to see all the engineering they've put into the car to make it "safer".

An Italian court reconvicted Amanda Knox of slander Wednesday, quashing her hope of removing a legal stain against her that has persisted after her exoneration in the brutal 2007 murder of her British roommate while the two were exchange students in Italy.

The decision by a Florence appeals court panel marked the sixth time that an Italian court found Knox had wrongly blamed the killing on an innocent man, the Congolese owner of the bar where she worked part time.
