Except that the spike began well before Biden's tenure, during Trump's last year, which is the only little flaw in this misinformation propaganda that so many of us have consumed that says that the border chaos is because of Biden's changes.

He also sent a proposal to Congress day one of his Admin, which Congress refused to even address. No willingness to address ANY of the priorities Dems and Biden had raised re immigration...but when they saw an opportunity to leverage a deal that could ignore any concessions to the Dems as would be normal in a bi-partisan deal, they jumped on it with one of their most conservative Senators in the lead to negotiate.

And when the Dems and Biden caved to that pressure and a deal was announced...oops, it's revealed that MAGA didn't actually want to do anything at all positive to get control of that flow, stop the chaotic aspect and move people back to their home countries faster. Resources to fight the camels, fight fentanyl smuggling, etc. Nope, don't want to help the country, just Trump...chaos is good...fenatanyl deaths are good...for Trump...

But you're right that the politics have shifted hard as the numbers just kept going up and up and the resources are entirely inadequate to process the flow. And politicians are indeed supposed to recognize those winds and respond.

Forget that a higher percentage of crossings are interdicted under Biden than under Trump. Forget that a higher percentage are returned to their country's of origin...none of that penetrates when the flow overwhelms to the point of being an obvious political cudgel for the opposition.

But is this actually the crisis MAGA politicians and media claim if doing nothing is better than everything they'd previously been demanding? Doing nothing is better than surging resources?

Maybe it's not actually a "crisis" to MAGA types? Just a political opportunity?

yup, illegals declined pretty steadily from 2005 to 2016, bouncing along at that bottom, but turned up in '18 and way up in '19...slowed way back during Covid in '20 with people hunkered down from pandemic and the rules allowing immediate deportation due to pandemic...but spiked again...bigly. We're at an all time high now.

There's a ton of migration pressure from all over the world.

Bill's dead. Because of course it is.

Any of you want to sell more BS about how this is an "emergency" or a "crisis"?

Apparently, we have all the time in the world. This thread we're posting on? Started in 2018.....still no fix. But SURE...it's a "crisis".

Is there a crisis at Denver Health?? According to Lester Holt and NBC news there is. The problems with Denver Health include the tab for who is paying for healthcare for Denvers new guests.

How far the Republican party has fallen. And we are DECADES before they wake up, and start acting like Conservative legislators again.

"A reasonable, fair, orderly, and secure system of immigration into this country, and not to discriminate in any way between nations and people.

Sounds "woke", doesn't it?

Republican leaders went from the above to "poisoning our blood" and "people from sh(thole countries".

Our mayor went to DC to tell folks about the needs. As you can see, they did nothing, and killed a first step toward fixing the problem.

Denver Health and others in the area will pass the costs on to customers....and our Health Insurance costs will keep rising.

This is how we "handle problems", now, Cradle: rich folks like me will eat the cost, and poor and working class will have more of their check eaten up to the point where they can't eat.

All because we're too stupid to simply give these people work VISAs.

At some point, States are gonna walk from all immigration laws, and tell businesses to hire anyone they want. Congress is too stupid to see what's on the tracks. We ALREADY ignore Federal marijuana laws, so it's not like this is some new ground.

Paying the price for a Congress that has stopped solving problems, and voters who let them get away with it.

But vote for Trump, he'll fix it.

Btw, Denver area Facebook groups (arranged by neighborhoods) are FILLED with requests for food, furniture, clothing, etc. for Venezuelans.

Proud of our city, because each request is filled with offers together with an "end" to the threads, where the families are set.

Now if they dumb*sses would get off their duffs, and print out work VISA's, we'd be SET.

Simple question. Would giving arriving uninvited migrants immediate work visas result in more or fewer migrants coming ?

obtw -- HR 2 would make E-verify mandatory.

A. Don't care. Not even a little. This is Republican-logic: you want to compare the status quo to a magic solution that never arrives. Perfect is the enemy of the good. And you've been playing this stupid game of "mommy, I don't like this immigration bill, therefore we'll do nothing" for 40 years.

B. Reagan did it. The world didn't end. In fact, an economic boom followed.

C. Simple question: how smart do you think it is to have 10 million + workers in the US not paying their full allotment of taxes? Never mind. You don't care. You still think "the border" is the problem.

D. Told ya your crew would kill it, and make up excuses as to why. And you're STILL not catching on. Keep it up. We'll get a fix in 2193.

OBTW, your man Trump killed and will continue to kill ANY fixes, making your citation of a bill that's going nowhere utterly pointless.
