Potential new programs
I know FSU is potentially making a new program, but does anyone know if any other southern schools will potentially creat team? Will big SEC schools such as Alabama create a varsity women’s lacrosse team considering other big schools like Clemson had so much success in their first year?
Re: Potential new programs
Word on the street is the next schools are the likely ones to add within a few years. Sorry, but no sexy football schools
NJIT
Wake Forest
Florida Atlantic
Miami (OH)
I've heard NJIT will likely be announced by end of year.

Wake Forest just makes sense. They invest smartly in olympic sports and could be a strong LAX program. Very attractive school in terms of Academics.

Re: Potential new programs
I agree Wake makes sense, but as has been shared here before, the official word from the athletic department (I am an alum and former varsity student athlete) is that they need $60M to add men's and women's lax ... and that was 5 years ago dollars.Kleizaster wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 2:13 pmWake Forest just makes sense. There is an ongoing intentional plan/strategy to bolster Olympic sports, which has been hugely successful. GO DEACS!
Re: Potential new programs
Where did you hear the NJIT rumors? Is anything conformed yet?
Re: Potential new programs
I’m sorry, but what is NJIT? I even googled it, but nothing came up. Not trying to be rude, but is that a college?

I've heard that SMU in Texas is exploring a D1 womens team.

Re: Potential new programs
Dayton just quietly let the talk of a team go away. I think they were supposed to add it in 2016. Never any announcement of changing their mind and the talk of the team quietly went away. No talk to revisit it from what I was told.
Re: Potential new programs
I heard a "fairly" reliable rumor that Tulane could be getting a team in the near future for what it's worth.

Four 80's era field hockey players sat in the AD's office a decade ago... as our lax daughters committed to: UVA, Georgetown, Florida (X2) and Dartmouth ... and lamented that Mother So Dear was not an option. He asked for a check for $60M to get it done.
