With the news of colleges being bought out, low enrollment, etc etc, I’m curious to see if anyone has any rumors on colleges adding lacrosse (or even previous schools attempting a comeback and adding it again), programs possibly dropping lacrosse, closing the school down, or even being bought out like Cabrini and Villanova.
Lastly, while not necessarily a rumor, I am curious to know if any Alums/fans of any programs who having fallen on hard times see a brighter future ahead or kinda accept where their program stands?
2023 D2 Rumors
Re: 2023 D2 Rumors
According to a thread over at D2football.com, Alderson Broaddus (GMAC lax affiliate) is barely hanging on and may not make it through the summer. Other GMAC members with very low enrollments, very small endowments and/or accreditation issues include Lake Erie, Malone, and Ursuline.

Alderson Broaddus is hit with utilities termination notice over $776,000 bill
When they shut off the utilities...can the end be near??

Re: 2023 D2 Rumors
I had seen where they were having "enrollment fairs". Figured that couldn't be a good sign.

Re: 2023 D2 Rumors
It’s now inevitable that two schools in the NE Ohio are going to close its doors this summer in both Lake Erie College and Hiram College.

There isn't usually any links or stories... until its to late. St Rose wasn't closing till it was, so you have to take all these little pieces of info and just add it up.

I have a friend who is "associated" with Hiram. She pretty much confirmed it.shaadb-man wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 12:31 pm There isn't usually any links or stories... until its to late. St Rose wasn't closing till it was, so you have to take all these little pieces of info and just add it up.

Binghamton’s Mid Dylan Brandock has transferred to UIndy, joining his brother. Originally a York commit, Braddock made waves for Wales in the latest World Lacrosse championships, by snagging an OT game winner over France.

Re: 2023 D2 Rumors
Tough break for D2 lacrosse especially for the RMAC. They would have had enough for an AQ when the tourney gets expanded, but now the RMCA drops down to 5 teams.
I get why the school did it...geographically it does not make sense. Having to play RMAC teams twice in regular season, CSU Pueblo roster only had 35 guys while other D2 programs are upwards of 45-60. Tough W-L record over the last 9 seasons. Tough to save a program when you see all of this.
Just a shame lacrosse loses another D2 program. If only more RMAC schools added like Regis, Fort Lewis or Colorado Mines.
2023: 1-13
2022: 3-9
2021: 3-5
2020: 1-3
2019: 7-8 (2 wins came from D3 and NAIA teams)
2018: 6-9 (played NAIA teams)
2017: 6-6 (played NAIA teams)
2016: 3-11
2015: 0-11
Re: 2023 D2 Rumors
Living out in the southwest and having a son that plays colleg lacrosse, I get excited when teams pop up out here. Problem is that I've seen more fail than survive. Watched Whittier finally collapse. Saw Dominion fall and then rise again. Excited for U of Utah lacrosse to grow but my understanding was they were only made possible by a hefty donation. How long can it last? They need a Women's Program. West coast and Mid west lacrosse IS MCLA for the most part. There are some good Club teams. Was hoping that PAC-12 (when it was viable) would be the next D1 Lacrosse conference.

Good lacrosse right there. Too bad they don't make the leap to NCAA.

Why make the jump when they run successful programs as is and at no cost to the school?laxdad30 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 5:31 pm Living out in the southwest and having a son that plays colleg lacrosse, I get excited when teams pop up out here. Title IX is also a big factor.
