Looking forward to the season opener with Georgetown (less than 1 month from now!). Gonna be a chilly one.
Should be a much closer game than last year, with a lot of returning players for Loyola and a bunch of question marks for GT.

Does anyone know if there are any scrimmages this spring before Georgetown?

Have been told everyone is healthy also. Minicus and Higgins missed fall ball. Veteran lineup. Should be a good season.
Re: ~Loyola University Greyhounds 2024~
Looks like the mens IG account has been posting some nice content leading up to the season.
It’s only highlights in the tapes but it looks like Trent turner, Ricky savage and Bruno Chapman got runs at the midfield lines (I believe potentially first line) as they lined up with higgins, heuston and Mcgorry. Matty Dixon, Habermann got some goals and assists.
Minicus looks fluid and dynamic in his movement so glad to see he’s healthy. I believe the defense is being retooled with a ton of new numbers out.
Only about a weeek away until Georgetown! Can’t wait

Ugly first quarter down 6-0. Came back stronger in second. Down 8-6 at half. Defense was awful in 1st and way too many turnovers.

15-11 loss. Not bad after first quarter. Lots of work to do over the next few weeks.

I’m gleaming at the positives that it’s a decent sign to put up 11 vs a very solid Richmond team year in and year out.Formerhound wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2024 2:21 pm 15-11 loss. Not bad after first quarter. Lots of work to do over the next few weeks.
It makes sense that the defense would struggle granted that they are plugging in two new guys to go with Bean down low. How were faceoffs and goalie play?

Re: ~Loyola University Greyhounds 2024~
I had it 13 - 11 Richmond when the starters were pulled. Correct that the Hounds were down 6-0 after the 1st. Goalie wasn’t seeing the ball well, defense was spinning and offense had no rhythm, plus the Spiders probably had 2x as many possessions as the Hounds struggled at the faceoff. Once they settled in they played well. Believe they tied it or got it back to a 1 goal game in the 3rd. Good film game so they should improve this week.

Sounds like a potential recipe for an uneven start but this is the current story of the last two seasons. Any other notes?Hound93 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2024 4:41 pm I had it 13 - 11 Richmond when the starters were pulled. Correct that the Hounds were down 6-0 after the 1st. 51 is a great player. Feels like this team will benefit greatly from EMO opportunities. Slick sticks and shooters. Freshman faceoff did a great job holding his own. Take the 1st quarter away and they played solid against a really strong Richmond team.
Re: ~Loyola University Greyhounds 2024~
Awesome, who played down low with bean? Good news hearing carson hall faired well as a freshman fogo
Additionally, who is the quarterback of the offense? Is it Lindsey or minicus

Think Poitras had five or six today. James and Minicus also scored a few. Middies were non existent offensively.
Re: ~Loyola University Greyhounds 2024~
2, 29, 55 started the game at close. 6, 23 were the SSDM and 17 was the 1st pole on the wing. Agree with the comment that the middies didn’t produce but IMO it was from bad shot placements. They had some open looks. Spiders starting goalie played very well.

Loyola fans, I am sorry about what's about to happen this coming Saturday.
Re: ~Loyola University Greyhounds 2024~
Ayo chill?? Anything can happen. It should be a good, (hopefully competitive) game.

That’s the game of the week, I think.
I have it as a pick-em.

I am quite quite interested in how this game shakes out. Loyola returns all their scoring, the goalie, and faceoff guy which should in theory all be improved but lose 2/3rds of the close D and their top short stick
The last two games have been routs by superiorly talented and athletic G’town teams which I attribute to highly ranked recruiting.
Georgetown on the other side loses a ton of their scoring and goalie but seems like the talent and cupboard of game production is still really there. Is there anything else you would say for Georgetown?

Gtown has some nice talent to fill in the gaps from last year, but is inexperienced in a number of key areas. I think its going to come down to which teams young guys respond better to a real game situation.houndace1 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 1:05 pmI am quite quite interested in how this game shakes out.
