Kavanaughty is the furthest thing from a victim. I wouldn't consider any of Harriet Miers, Douglas Ginsburg, Bork or Thomas a victim either.

Brett signed up for this by accepting the SCOTUS nomination. No one forced him to play this game -- he volunteered. He should in no way be surprised or offended if his past bad behavior is being dredged up. I have no idea whether Brett actually assaulted anyone -- that's what testimony and investigation are supposed to uncover.

It does seem clear that he was (at a minimum) an entitled d-bag frat boy with a tendency to get blind drunk frequently. How surprising he didn't go to Duke instead of Yale. : )

I'd be inclined to cut him some slack for that if he'd have copped to "when I was young and stupid I was...young and stupid." But since he chose to stake out his pious boy scout, virgin, men for others credentials, he's now stuck with defending that. If this doesn't go through, Kavanaughty can go back to his secure, well paid, life tenured job on the DC Circuit. Just like Ginsburg and Bork did. He'll have a very very nice life.

If I were Trump, I'd cut Kavanaughty loose today and go with Amy Coney Barrett, who would be #metoo proof. And she'd more likely than Brett to overturn RvW. If you want someone to get that job done, hire a woman to do it.
Just because you disagree with his politics doesn't mean he isn't a victim. He is completely a victim. There are no facts supporting any of these women's claims. How can't you see that? How would you feel if someone accused you of sexual assault/rape and there was no evidence and you did not do it. However you lost your job and livelihood over it because the media slandered you about it and believed the lying accuser? I hope that happens to you to see how you like it. He is the victim.

Senate Republicans have refused all offers of testimony from Ms Ramirez. Can’t find a moment to hear her. GOP is going full scumbag on this and even rolled out Ken Starr, formerly of Baylor University. Until, you know....

The evidence against BK is the sworn testimony of Dr.Ford. Sworn testimony is considered evidence in every court in the land.

I hope some D Senators ask him to explain some of his HS yearbook entries (written by BK himself):

"Keg City Club (Treasurer) --- 100 Kegs or Bust"
Q: Did you and your friends actually drink 100 kegs of beer? Over what time period?

"I survived the FFFFFFFourth of July"
Q: What does FFFFFFF stand for? Have you ever heard the phrase "find them, french them, feel them, finger them, f*** them, forget them"? Is that what this refers to? If not, then what, exactly?

"Judge --- Have You Boofed Yet?"
Q: What does that phrase mean? Does Judge refer to Mark Judge? Would you endorse having him testify under oath as to what he observed of your behavior? Are you the "Bart O'Kavanaugh" mentioned in his book? Did you ever throw up in a car from drinking too much?

"Renate Alumnius"
Q: Who or what is Renate, and what does this phrase mean?

Now BK goes on Fox and claims he was much too busy going to Church to do any of this stuff.

The man is an incorrigible liar. It's completely unbelievable that he was not on Kozinski's dirty-joke email list, like everyone else in that office. BK also lied about his judge prep work for GWB. Now he's lying about his behavior in high school.

SCOTUS judges are nine of the ten most powerful people in the country (POTUS being the 10th). Granting this enormous privilege to lyin' BK would be an utter travesty.

There are 6 women among R Senators. Will they all really go along with putting this lying frat-boy buffoon on SCOTUS??

I don't think the first thought by anyone involved was "this woman is lying". It seems to me that the first reaction was, will you please come in and tell your story. As she dissembled and drew out the timeline/process; the lack of corroboration of he story became more and more clear.

There is also the very real possibility that we are witnessing a bit of backlash to the title IX witch hunts that have gone on on college campuses, where the boy is guilty until proven innocent and offered no rights to a fair hearing.

A presumption of innocence is a virtue this country was founded upon. I cannot fault anyone for wanting to adhere to that standard.
hmmm, I have Frito on block, but pretty sure he's full on F--- Democrats, smear campaign, lying women, drunk Dr. Ford...etc, etc...first reaction and still the reaction.

I'd agree that the White House (not Grassley and McConnell) sent the right signals...at first. Then Trump broke cover and all heck was unleashed by the Trumpists in full attack on the accusers mode. McConnell never got it right.

scumbag  .....pot meet kettle.

Elected Democrats are just upset they have been exposed for who they truly are and are currently being beaten at their own game. Thanks to (the democrats)Biden and Reed for the no SCOTUS during an POTUS election year and the filibuster rule.

Breaking News @ 7pm: Ramirez just announced she is not going to testify, as has Ford's legal team because they are afraid of Mitch McConnell.

You watch your idiot President today smearing the accusers? This is his own jam, sexual assault. It’s your party brand now. Brett is still lying about Renate.

I can't tell whether you're kidding or serious, youth.
The decision wasn't Ramirez's..the Committee refused to hear her, just as they are refusing to call any witnesses, Mark Judge, college roommate, etc..

'afraid of Mitch McConnell'??? why?

This is going to be an enormously damaging affair for the Republicans. They keep making every single move they can to alienate most women voters. Not all, but most. And memories are going to very long on this.

THERE IS NO SOLID EVIDENCE HE DIDN'T ASSAULT HER. How can you not see this? It has nothing to do with politics, it is pure logic. It is a standoff - no proof he did, no proof he didn't. So who do you believe based only on the ascertainable facts?

A sticky mess indeed, the gals aint gonna swallow that one. You boys better think real hard about confirming BK in an atmosphere like this one. Hell hath no fury like that of a woman scorned. Many boys who don't have the means, friends in high places, and media folk who plead your case for you, gonna be in trouble when Ms I. Fingerdher goes to the police and tells them you touched her inappropriately at the drive inn movie forty years ago. BK needs to take one for the team, aint gonna be good if he's confirmed.
BK says he went though HS and college a virgin.
So that means he just jerked off at school?

I believe it has already done damage for women...and possibly everyone. If she does not come out truthful on this (i) it shows bad for women in general, (ii) definitely shows bad for politics and the left, and (iii) it sets us all up that innuendo = guilt/not competent until proven otherwise. That IMO, is bad doe everyone.....especially our children. The positive side, if there is one, is that anyone claiming/having been assaulted MUST seek the authorities, if for no other reason than historical documentation. The satirical side of me says, for no other reason than to blackmail your accuser for the rest of your life.

FBI should have looked into this a month ago. More mismanagement by the White House. Whoever heard of not calling witnesses when trying to find out the truth? He would have been confirmed by now. This is where we are with Supreme Court justices. A Supreme Court candidate goes on a partisan TV show? What a fiasco.

Guaranteed tenure for life. Can only be removed from office via impeachment. Can retire at any time and will continue to get full pay for life. Plush public sector health insurance and perqs. All that applies to a DC Circuit judge (what BK is now and what he woud stay if not confirmed) and also a SCOTUS justice. DC Circuit pays $221k a year; SCOTUS pays $255k a year. Not much diff. You get a COLA salary adjustment every year. And Article III, Section 1 says it is unconstitutional to ever have your pay reduced.

BK isn't losing his job/livelihood. He's got a cush set up either way. And he could resign from the bench and make much more in private practice if he ever desired to do that.
Boycott stupid. If you ignore the gator troll, eventually he'll just go back under his bridge.

LOL...a college guy lied about his sexual conquests...This is news?  We got him now!

I didn't see anything but I believe the woman who couldn't remember if it was Brett and called a bunch of people to see if they remember it and told them she didn't know who it was. Major lefty newspapers wouldn't run her story because of ZERO credibility.

Now CNN is calling all Yale students from the 80s looking for a story.
