Maryland and Cornell already have a pretty loaded OOC but not adding at least another upper level teams seems bizarre. They do play Penn, Princeton, loyola and Denver but a matchup with Penn State here or even G-town would have made sense. Really Rutgers and Duke should have worked out a game, both OOC's need another high end matchup badly.
Duke will also get a year end boost with the renewed ACC tournament,

maybe they factored that into their scheduling.
Don't think that holds, they played two extra ACC games last year, which would be the same they play this year.

That's a good point, didn't take that into consideration.

And that only works if the ACC as a whole does well OOC. The inbred ACC schedule hurt the ACC in 2022.

That schedule is soft AF. Like, stunningly soft AF. Letting the ACC schedule pretty much do all of the work. It's a schedule that is perfect to roll up big scores and high point totals. If they lose 3 ACC games, their SOS is going to drag them to the bubble. Risky schedule from that perspective, IMO. But hey...at least they'll get some eye popping stats and hype after pummeling Bellarmine, Jacksonville, and the like! YAY!!!

Non conference they have five top 20 teams scheduled add to that Loyola/Jacksonville/St Joe’s and HP
Who of those 9 are soft AF?

what dings(ed) the league was bringing in 2 extra games for the 5th place team. it was unnecessary post-covid and the coaches aren't good at math. when you start wringing things out to 2 or 3 decimal places and then records are counted 2 and 3 times in a formula, it matters. all intraconference cumulative records will be .500.

then you throw in that it can (and did) cause havoc to the early season scheduling, when ooc teams are available and traditional weekends have been set up. then you have to wait for the accn to tell you what weekends early or late they want you playing games. for 'cuse as an example, it absolutely affected getting army scheduled, and probably cornell as well.

it was a cluster.

agreed. what you want/need to best position your schedule is 8-9 top 20 games. there's probably a v good chance they hit that number with their schedule. like, a great chance. and it's not much different and likely better than most of their non-covid schedules the last 10 years. when was the last time they played a b1g team, a decade ago? selfishly, i was hoping they'd run it back with psu, but alas.
