Kinda reminds me of what happened yesterday on a city bus:
Drunk white Karen talks loudly to a black dude who she doesn't know. For some reason she says "I love you" about seven times. Dude asks her to stop. She says something inaudible and he replies "that's racist". Then, despite having protested her "love" just a bit before, she shouts "you're a mother f______g n//////r!" Black dude stood up and appeared ready to smack her but thought better of it. Told the driver, "I better get off the bus". She then says "yeah, get off". He stands directly in front of her and says "don't tell me what to do". She goes silent and he leaves. The driver thanks him for his discretion. Then the driver tells her that everything is recorded and that she could have gotten into big trouble because of her conduct. She decides to stay silent and eventually leaves. Everybody on the bus stayed discreetly silent but clearly were grateful that it hadn't escalated into something really bad.
That's the kind of excretia that takes place every day in the USA. Too bad that all too often we succumb to propaganda and always prefer to get involved in meaningless but profitable foreign wars while people get injured or killed every day because of situations like this that you never hear or read about in your newspapers.

Just can’t help themselves in Tejas. Let’s hear it for personal freedom.
“When pinned, Mr. George’s locs do not extend below the eyebrows or below the earlobes, but officials have told his mother that her son’s hair is still in violation of the policy because it would extend lower than allowed if let down.
The family argues in their lawsuit that the district policy violates the CROWN Act, a new Texas law that bars schools and employers from discriminating against hairstyles “commonly or historically associated with race.”

RISING ANTI-MUSLIM AND ANTI-ARAB HATE ON CAMPUS
https://pen.org/rising-anti-muslim-and- ... on-campus/
the last month a wave of anti-Muslim, anti-Arab, and anti-Palestinian incidents have occurred on college campuses in conjunction with the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, including violent attacks, threats, and targeted, hateful and menacing rhetoric. At Stanford University, a driver targeted an Arab Muslim student in a hit-and-run that authorities are investigating as a hate crime. At American University, where administrators have noted a rise in Islamophobia on campus, a note saying “GO BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM” and “DEATH TO ALL PALESTINIANS!” was found under a Palestinian’s staff member’s office. A similar set of messages was written at Yale University on a whiteboard outside a dorm room ...
https://thehill.com/homenews/education/ ... as-israel/
While lawmakers and policy experts have raised alarms on violent antisemitism, advocates say similar spikes in Islamophobia are getting short shrift.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations announced it has received 1,283 requests for help amid concerns about violence in the month after Oct. 7. In 2022, over the same time period, the group only got 406 such requests ...
Too much hate.

No. The land isn't stolen. Because if it is, what year are we planning to use to set international boundaries and "ownership" of land.
Protip: every college at that hearing is sitting on stolen land. Start by giving it back, THEN you can lecture the Israelis.
Until then? F off with your nonsense.

Why is it odd? We have a school shooting every 4.25 days in the US. And that average includes summer break and weekends when kids aren't in school. So maybe like one school shooting every 2.25 school days....youthathletics wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 7:03 pm It's certainly a hot topic.....https://x.com/stoolpresidente/status/17 ... 46786?s=20

It would be odd if there wasn't a school shooting soon after their testimony. At least in the U.S.
What's odd is that it's been normalized by a good chunk of the country.

Proud of my wife's and my alma mater, Dartmouth.
Our President Sian Leah Beilock has been outstanding, but very importantly the Middle Eastern Studies Department and the Jewish Studies Department have for years been teaching jointly and were well prepared to step up swiftly. And their students were well prepared to engage with one another civilly.
I watched much of the House hearing and found the grandstanding by some to be predictably offensive, while also finding the college Presidents to not understand how they were coming across with their legalistic and sometimes squirmy responses to tough questions. Come on folks, just tell the ranting gal who wants "action" to step off...tell her your college IS taking direct action to adjudicate each case in which an individual has violated your Code of Conduct and that while you personally don't make that judicial call, you expect the process to provide full accountability for such violations. Period, full stop. And then ask her whether she voted for accountability for Jan 6 or whether she avoided that responsibility, how does she excuse members of Congress who refused subpoenas?
But these folks are caught between a rock and a hard place...they (or at least their schools past admins) have been supportive or at least hands off of "speech" that shouts down dissenting voices (typically offensively racist speakers) but now find that those shouting down others are themselves racist, anti-semitic...whose speech is "free"?
It seems plainly obvious to me that chanting Intifada Revolution etc crosses the code of conduct line. Bullying hate speech. Ok, so let's imagine that some people chanting Intifada don't know what that means in the context of Oct 7...make it clear in a statement what it means and that chanting it in rallies or marches across campus will be a violation of the Code of Conduct. A warning. End it. Acts of direct intimidation of others based on their identity as Jews, Muslims, whatever are a violation of the Code of Conduct. End it.
Bring leaders of various groups together and make it clear that violent, threatening rhetoric is out of bounds, and that they must abide by the Code of Conduct or face expulsion. Provide them with opportunities to engage with one another civilly, but not threateningly.
Re: The 'Poison' Ivies

Or would the answer be the same if you substituted "black" or "women" for "Jewish"?
If you get a different answer if you substitute any other group with the word "Jewish".....now you have a major league problem, I agree.

That depends on the context. Man, I can't believe you could not see that one coming. Did you actually listen to these 3 female versions of the 3 stooges? Re: Is America a racist nation?
What is there to qualify?? The question was really simple and straightforward. Does antisemitic rhetoric from your students equate to bullying?? When students are advocating the destruction of Israel on any campus it ain't a stretch that goes way beyond the realm of bullying. In the 1930s in Germany the only good Jew was a dead Jew. So in some cultures that perspective hasn't changed that much in over 80 years. The only good Jew is a dead Jew.

Re: The 'Poison' Ivies
I listened to these 3 women attempt to answer a very simple question. They were an embarrassment collectively to the institutions of higher learning they lead. When you have some students on your campus advocating that violence is justified against a group of people you don't have to look very far to see the context of their intent. How long ago was it that the concept of zero tolerance was the guiding principle in most schools? I suppose the term "selective zero tolerance" is more appropriate.youthathletics wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 11:43 amExactly correct.....they knew full well what was taking place and were scared to death to intervene, their indecision WAS a decision.a fan wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 10:50 amNeed more context.
