Just to be clear, that's a quote from the plaintiff's lawsuit, not the State of Vermont. Right?DMac wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 10:36 amhttps://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/chris ... 26b7&ei=14Simply put, the State believes sex is mutable and biological differences do not matter.
Do you accept the plaintiff's characterization as complete and accurate?
I read the article and it presented no response from the State nor any explanation of their actual position.
But, from what can be gleaned from the article, the "Christian school" decided it didn't want to follow the State's rules on competition. It doesn't tell us exactly what those rules are, just that the school forfeited a game because they didn't want to have their girls compete in a game in which a biological male identifying as girl was also competing. They exercised their right to not compete, based on their religious beliefs. Fair enough, don't have to compete.
But the implications for that decision (according to the article) is a loss of public funding and a loss of opportunities to compete in other state sponsored leagues and competitions.
The school has the full right to make whatever decision they want as a private school, they just can't participate in state run competitions and they give up state funding.

“Specifically, the school’s actions do not meet the expectations of the VPA’s 1st and 2nd policy, Commitment to Racial, Gender-Fair, and Disability Awareness and Policy of Gender Identity, respectively. Thus, Mid-Vermont Christian school is ineligible to participate in VPA activities going forward,” ruled the athletic organization.

2. I don't know about compete but from what we get I don't see it as inaccurate.
I need to know when the transition was begun before determining whether this is fair or not in my mind.

Yes, according to the lawsuit that was their statement. But all quotes appear to be from the lawsuit. That appears to be their quote from the letter they received.ohmilax34 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 12:33 pmThis quote is from the state athletic organization, right?MDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 12:16 pmJust to be clear, that's a quote from the plaintiff's lawsuit, not the State of Vermont. I did find a statement from the Athletic Association, but not through that article. It includes a link to the original letter and a link to the policy.

Re: The Hate Directed at the LGBTQ+
Seems to me that the decision is 'fair' insofar as it conforms to the rules. The school is opting out of following the rules.DMac wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 1:00 pm1. I need to know when the transition was begun before determining whether this is fair or not in my mind.
But should that be the rule is another matter.
Re: The Hate Directed at the LGBTQ+
According to the rules MD posted, it looks like the only step in a transition is to identify as the other gender.DMac wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 1:00 pm1. Re: The Hate Directed at the LGBTQ+
Could be. Clearly Vermont has a liberal point of view when it comes to high school sports, favoring allowing kids to play whatever they wish as long as it's in the gender identity they truly occupy in the rest of their life. I don't see any actual danger in any girl's sports that would happen, all the other issues about 'fairness' being quite a separate matter.ohmilax34 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 2:10 pmAccording to the rules MD posted, it looks like the only step in a transition is to identify as the other gender.DMac wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 1:00 pm1. Vermont errs to the side of letting kids play...

Re: The Hate Directed at the LGBTQ+
absolutely nuts. Been watching a professional champion parent/kid tournament for the past few days, very fun. She caddied for dad and her brother Charlie had another young man...gorgeous girl. I thought she was at least few years older.
One pairing was a mother and son. Excellent golf!
