Agree with this view. Breschi needs to get back to the tourney regularly and go deep in the next 2-3 years or it’s likely over. UNC, surprisingly, recruited really well with the 25s(if they can keep them from being poached),but they don’t arrive for awhile. He needs to right the program before they arrive.wgdsr wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 2:30 pmhe's not far off. unc gives its coaches 5 year deals in non-revenue. universally. breschi escaped the chopping block, but a 3 year for all the world says he's on the clock and the seat is warm. and the staff reshuffle could go either way, but one of those ways is maybe he was given the mandate it was them or him. or... given the stakes, he felt the need to freshen things up.OCanada wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 1:39 pmCo you ever know what you are talking about??? Win or lose this year they're in it for the long haul with him and know there's a 2006/2009-2010/2014/2022 type rebuild coming going into 2025. If this year goes well it will go a long way to the next extension. A bust of a season and we're back to the anxiety this message board, the programs haters, media, and fan base thrives on. If anything Gait and Breschi/Petro are closer to "hot seats" if they have rough years.
Breschi just got a three year contract extension. If he was on the hot seat last year it might explain his restructuring moves

Scott Marr played attack on the title team in 1987. His son also played at Hopkins

A lot of people on here wanted him for the job and I'm sure most of you know him and his family. I don't see the problem.HopFan16 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 10:13 amKick rocksLaxAllStars wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 10:04 am Scott Marr, Albany head coach, was an attackman at Johns Hopkins University.

Aside from fall 2015, maybe 2012, this has to be one of the quietest happiest Hopkins forums in a long long time.
I don't care for the present administration at homewood, but the football coach they hired to replace Margraff is 9-0 this year and 37-6 including the canceled Daniels covid year. He was a few years behind me and I don't remember him as a student, but seems to be a home run hire. Can't be an easy program to build with the academics and number of bodies they have to get on campus.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
It's not just football. Men's and Women's Soccer and Men's and Women's Cross Country all won conference championships and are in NCAA's. Volleyball is 23-4 and hosting the conference tournament this weekend. Quite a fall for Hopkins athletics.jhu06 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2023 11:53 amA lot of people on here wanted him for the job and I'm sure most of you know him and his family. It's not really a problem - it's just a head scratcher - I think most people who look at this forum are well aware both Scott and Kyle Marr played for Hopkins - so did Dave Marr for that matter - it's like telling eskimos there is podcast about ice. Albany fans should listen to that podcast - not a Hopkins thing anymore.
Was that before Tinney was disqualified for 2016 and everybody and their mother blew out their knees????? It's a veteran group - they dealt with their biggest weakness in the best possible short term way - no guarantees - 2015/2016 should be a lesson for everyone.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
It's quiet because the team is good and you, OC, Sag, and the rest of the doomers brigade only surface from the depths when you need to complain about something and yet here you are trying your hardest to do that anyway. I'm guessing your weekly alarm went off that it was time to talk about Ron Daniels again?

You know you really are ignorant. I donate $$$. I doubt you do. Last year i picked them to exceed expectations. It is long past time when you should stop fabricating your BS. I know quite a few people there. Your actions are disgracefulHopFan16 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2023 4:12 pmIt's quiet because the team is good and you, OC, Sag, and the rest of the doomers brigade only surface from the depths when you need to complain about something and yet here you are trying your hardest to do that anyway. Women's field hockey team is 18-1 and they begin their title defense today as well
I guess it's not until December that the fall Director Cup standings are released but the Hop will certainly be vying for a top spot
Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
Constructing a 9-0 d3 football team at a top 10 school can't be easy. I'm sure it's been discussed here but always amazed at how schools like williams, amherst and mit do such wizardry and sorcery in sports. I know those schools haven't followed the daniels admissions agenda, but still how many quality linebackers are out there you can convince to play at Hopkins that have the grades? Now to the playoffs and trying to climb Mount (Kilimanjaro) Union.HopFan16 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2023 4:12 pmIt's quiet because the team is good and you, OC, Sag, and the rest of the doomers brigade only surface from the depths when you need to complain about something and yet here you are trying your hardest to do that anyway. IL has a story on UNC's fall ball look. The stuff on Breschi looking to try new drills and overhauling practice brought back memories of the same stories the Sun and IL wrote about Petro pretty much every offseason from 2009-2019. Google it and it was Ground(ball)hog Day.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
What does that mean??? The published aceptance rate of Williams and Amherst is virtually identical to Hopkins - anywhere from 7 to 8 percent as are the SAT/ACT and GPA stats. MIT is in another league entirely - pun intended

'06 you were saying something about a happy and quiet board???
On a happier note - women's X country won regionals/men finished second likely qualifying for NCAAs, women's field hockey won, both soccer teams won and the football team is ahead 34-0 in the 3rd quarter pretty much guaranteeing a perfect regular season

Great fun to see the Ravens lose to the Browns on a last second field goal...
