And the serious allegations aside, Kavanaugh’s hs yearbook is a perfect example of how immature many of the kids coming out of single sex high schools can be. If you want your kid to be socially stunted and not know how to treat others and act around the other sex when they get to college, by all means, send them to an all boys or all girls prep school.

Whoever becomes the next scotus nominee/(insert public office here) is now subject to a complete media colonoscopy and even subject to guesses about inside jokes made 35 years ago. I’m much younger than Kavanaugh and I’m not sure I can recall much of those h/s jokes. Even the good ones.
A serious question- How far back do we now get to go to determine what behaviors are disqualifying for our public officials?
It's not a new standard, people have been judged by accusations from decades prior for the entire history of our country. We just have photo and video and text proof now. Some of those pols were rejected, some were voted in. Some people faced more recent accusations and were voted into office. Like you mentioned, Trump is on tape talking about his own sexual assaults much fresher than Kavanaugh's alleged assaults. Trump also has assaults stemming from a decade earlier than Kavanaugh. Despite this long timeline of potentially illegal and morally corrupt behavior, he was elected president with a minority of the vote.
Then you have Roy Moore, who faced multiple allegations from decades ago, long before Kavanaugh on through the mid 1990's, a decade after Kavanaugh's accusations. He lost the popular vote like Trump, but lost the actual seat along with it.
The question isn't a standard of how far back you go, it's more of what you posited - what will you put up with for your side to win? One side, the Republicans, have put up with sickening things, things that I'd have words with any father who would excuse. The other side, the Democrats, certainly have issues with their ranks. But it mostly seems to come to light after elections, and they don't seem to vote in the same corrupt behavior.
We won't know if the Democrats will put up with the same b.s. unless they nominate someone as despicable as Trump. On the other hand they haven't come close to nominating someone as despicable as Trump.
Re: SCOTUS
In other interesting news: John Heilemann of NBC news knows Mark Judge. Judge was a frequent customer in a bar that Heilemann bartended when he first arrived in DC. He claims Judge was an out of control drunk, very belligerent, a real jerk. Hard to believe Kavanaugh hung out with this guy, thought to be best friends, if Kavanaugh was so upstanding. Small world.

What does "bring the wife" mean? Wouldn't you "bring the wife" if you were in a similar situation, when your family was being torn apart due to a possible political smear campaign? Nice kids:

"The word “Renate” appears at least 14 times in Georgetown Preparatory School’s 1983 yearbook, on individuals’ pages and in a group photo of nine football players, including Judge Kavanaugh, who were described as the “Renate Alumni.” It is a reference to Renate Schroeder, then a student at a nearby Catholic girls’ school.
Two of Judge Kavanaugh’s classmates say the mentions of Renate were part of the football players’ unsubstantiated boasting about their conquests.
“They were very disrespectful, at least verbally, with Renate,” said Sean Hagan, a Georgetown Prep student at the time, referring to Judge Kavanaugh and his teammates. “I can’t express how disgusted I am with them, then and now.”
Judge Kavanaugh’s years at Georgetown Prep, in a Maryland suburb of Washington, are under intense scrutiny because of allegations by Christine Blasey Ford that he sexually assaulted her during high school. Judge Kavanaugh has denied the allegation. He and Dr. Blasey are scheduled to testify Thursday before the Senate Judiciary Committee."

In this case "the wife" is rather accurate. What, he isn't capable of appearing truthful without his doting and devoted spouse nodding along side? (Where have we seen that before? And the wife says, "not my husband" and then yeah,he is?)
And since when do candidates for SCOTUS lower themselves to go on TV to promote themselves? The are held to a higher standard, or are suppose to be and this clown is gunning for this spot like his life depended upon it. Classic action of a guy who would sexually assault women. I am ENTITLED.
BTW, I do not think it is single gender schools that are the problem but rather boarding school where parents give up guiding their own kids during the most important formative years of their lives. Give up control to the moral development of other 15-18 year olds all with a ton of money who are all ENTITLED.

THOSE POOR, PUT UPON, MALE KIDDIES.
Is it surprising that Ms. Renate hasn't come forward? She would have nothing to fear if she did.......right?
Perhaps Trump knew all those fine young humans. One thing for sure......Trump, even if he wasn't as close to the other beings as he is to his lifelong buddy Kavanagh, "can tell you" that the remaining members of this imaginary "Renate Alumni" are innocent victims of another Democrat conspiracy.
Question: Is Georgetown Prep affiliated or under the aegis of the well-respected, Jesuit institution, Georgetown University

But, he's not heading to the Supremes. Neither is Kavanaugh. (stated that BEFORE these "allegations" appeared )

That being said let's investigate, I'm all for it. Even Democrats are suggesting it should be investigated, countering Frito's comments.
You've had Democrats and Republicans step down after accusations, especially during the height of the MeToo movement (and some who haven't, like Roy Moore). It would be interesting to see who has been accused vs who has stepped down and break it down via party line, number of accusations and more to see if there is any correlation.
There is also the slim fraction of accusations that are false, further hurting actual victims and the accused alike. Just as with the Kavanaugh case, we should try to get as much information as possible before bringing out the pitchforks.
