Johns Hopkins 2024
Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
It’s not nearly as bad as predicted. Cool with light rain here in Towson.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
Wasn't there but heard the rain could have been a lot worse and the current Jays won as usual even though they were severely shorthanded with Angelus, Collison, Peshko, Dunn, McDermott, Jaronski, and a few others not playing. Brown started on D with Smith/Szuluk and *gasp* H. Chauvette ran some midfield. That's about all I know. Anyone attend?
Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
I heard Brown came back incredibly strong and in shape. Not surprised he was starting. That’s a formidable D corpsHopFan16 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 7:40 pm Wasn't there but heard the rain could have been a lot worse and the current Jays won as usual even though they were severely shorthanded with Angelus, Collison, Peshko, Dunn, McDermott, Jaronski, and a few others not playing. Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
That’s a lot of bodies on the roster. Did we have any transfers out other than Wong?
Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
Don't think so. Should just be a one year thing though. There are 14 guys who are out of eligibility after this season (barring injury) and then another 8 who technically still have eligibility but unclear if they'll actually return (Smith, Deans, Bauer, Ince, Chauvette, Deans, Arteaga, Evans). Melendez should be back from what I've been told. Plus a smaller class coming in. So will be closer to 50 than 60 in 2025.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
Rawson's brother Ted, a 4* middie, to Ohio State. The other Lawrenceville brother connection, Sawyer English, also a 4* middie, to Brown--so much for brotherly love. Each of the English's went to different schools--UNC, PU (now SU), JHU and Brown.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
We flipped Brooks from Brown...maybe can do the same thing with Sawyer.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
ya, sorry hop fans for the hit and run on '06, by the time i was back the alumni weekend was coming up. and of course i was unclear.51percentcorn wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2023 8:08 am wg... I must admit while "provocative" and "ridiculous" are descriptions I would attach to many if not most of '06's posts I am missing it here. The comment about the women's schedule while somewhat out of place is pretty benign and there WAS a scheduling dust up (at least on fanlax) of why Milliman chose to schedule 2 separate Friday & Sunday games in 2022 (losing 3 of the 4 games) and zero mid-week games. I do not recall whether it was actually a recorded or published quote but it was attributed to Milliman that he did it for two reasons: to simulate at least the BIG tournament if you reach the finals AND to avoid missed midweek class time (I guess going on the premise that most college students avoid Friday classes). He did have 1 Friday-Sunday last year and 2 mid-week games as he increased the schedule from 13 to 15 games (losing the two mid-week games) so if he said that in 2022 he obviously revised the thought process. What am I missing?
"or was told to say"
thought the passive/aggressive/subliminal was more than a bit much and overreaching considering the strides hop has now taken, and i did laugh when i read it... imagining milliman getting a tutorial from the brass on this to their liking. but if i was off there, then i'll own it. plus in the context of the board sometimes and some of '06's musings... maybe i was way off.

nice story on Anish, who's spent a lot of time at Homewood over the years.

Another 4-star: Jos Chois, a highly athletic two-way middie out of IMG

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
With Billings/Claiborne/Lumpris (if he doesn't choose football) and this kid - Hopkins certainly seems to developed an opportunity to mold a SSDM corp in the future full of big/fast/strong athletes - there's alot more to playing the position but these four have all the attributes you can't coach. The freshman from Gilman listed as a short stick is 6' and 200 lbs as well.
Of course - I can't help but mention you don't need 10 short sticks on the roster but to '16's point you likely lose 6 of them after this year - Ince and Arteaga do retain the possibility of more eligibility - neither played in '21.
One minor change from last year's roster - Reen is back to being listed simply as a mid-fielder - last year he was listed as a short stick. I guess they drew the line at 10.
Roster has links to the players' twitter (X) accounts if the player chooses I assume

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
Well they certainly seem to recognize the critical importance of the position. Most teams attack shorties so it's essential to be able to excel one-on-one and not require help. They also fuel transition.51percentcorn wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 8:29 am With Billings/Claiborne/Lumpris (if he doesn't choose football) and this kid - Hopkins certainly seems to developed an opportunity to mold a SSDM corp in the future full of big/fast/strong athletes - there's alot more to playing the position but these four have all the attributes you can't coach. The key positions these days IMO are: goal, ssdms, and face-offs.

The Lawrenceville connection HF16's been all over in photo form. I don't remember how many high schools have had alumni like this on the jays at the same time particularly from outside the state of maryland and even new york.

4-star Chaminade attackman Connor Kuttin commits to the Jays: https://twitter.com/natlaxfed/status/17 ... 0187714986
He was a 5-star and top 10 on NLF as of March, now listed as their #35 prospect. 4-star but not top 50 on IL.
Looks undersized but is praised for his IQ and vision. Stylistically his game tape reminds me quite a bit of another smaller attackman from Long Island...Chris Gray.
One of his older brothers was originally a Hopkins commit but ended up going to Yale.
