meanwhile, in the docs case, we learn that the individual 4, responsible for IT at Mar-a-Lago, flipped when he was offered a lawyer not paid by Trump's PAC, now testifying as to the effort directed by Trump to destroy the videotapes. That triggered the superseding indictment.
More flips expected in both cases in due course.

Lying to the FBI ain't a good look. Wonder if he was instructed to lie and by whom?MDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 9:47 am https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/23/politics ... index.html

Initially, this guy was represented by a lawyer provided by the Trump PAC, named Stanley Woodward. Woodward was also representing, I think, Nauta. While Woodward was representing them both, both Nauta and Taveras, "Individual No. 4," lied to the Grand Jury about the plot/directive to delete the security footage. DOJ appears to have believed that they lied. Then DOJ raised the conflict of interest between them, and the Chief Judge a public federal defender available. Tavares consulted with federal defender assigned to him, who likely told Tavares that his only hope not to be indicted was to, umm, tell the truth. And that’s when Taveras came clean. Nauta appears to be in a pickle here, as Trump will almost certainly try to roll his servile body under the bus.NattyBohChamps04 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 12:20 pmLying to the FBI ain't a good look. It's an interesting question as to whether he was actually told to lie, explicitly, ("our story is going to be...") or just understood that he was supposed to do so (wink, wink) or whether he actually thought that lying would protect him...get away with it...NattyBohChamps04 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 12:20 pmLying to the FBI ain't a good look. The lawyer in common is one answer...gotta think that the lawyer knew it was a lie, but perhaps he didn't want to know, and the story seemed straight...until the video was revealed...but at that point...
But forget the lawyer, how about Nauta and Trump himself? Communication between these guys is very likely...

USA v. Trump, case in DC federal district court set for trial March 4, 2024. Kind of nice it is on the old inauguration day.

My reading is that it was a very pro-Trump ruling. He gets to do all of his campaigning in the Super Tuesday states before his trial.youthathletics wrote: ↑Mon Aug 28, 2023 2:33 pmrather convenient.jhu72 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 28, 2023 11:55 am... day before super Tuesday I think.Seacoaster(1) wrote: ↑Mon Aug 28, 2023 11:39 am USA v. And naturally, your comment "rather convenient" isn't "a polarizing, partisan, big gov't, pro trump," comment, right?youthathletics wrote: ↑Mon Aug 28, 2023 2:54 pmHow's the weather in Denver?a fan wrote: ↑Mon Aug 28, 2023 2:45 pmAnd if was closer to November.......you wouldn't complain, right?youthathletics wrote: ↑Mon Aug 28, 2023 2:33 pmrather convenient.jhu72 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 28, 2023 11:55 am... day before super Tuesday I think.Seacoaster(1) wrote: ↑Mon Aug 28, 2023 11:39 am USA v. It's a neutral, even handed comment.

Right wingers used to blame Antifa and BLM for all the violence taking place in public throughout the USA. Now the news is that it was right wing delusionals who were the problem:
Two ex-Proud Boys leaders get some of longest sentences in Jan. 6 Capitol attack
https://apnews.com/article/capitol-riot ... 31e554cee6
Two former leaders of the far-right Proud Boys extremist group were sentenced to more than a decade each in prison Thursday for spearheading an attack on the U.S. Capitol to try to prevent the peaceful transfer of power from Donald Trump to Joe Biden after the 2020 presidential election.
The 17-year prison term for organizer Joseph Biggs and 15-year sentence for leader Zachary Rehl were the second and third longest sentences handed down yet in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack.
They were the first Proud Boys to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly, who will separately preside over similar hearings of three others who were convicted by a jury in May after a four-month trial in Washington that laid bare far-right extremists’ embrace of lies by Trump, a Republican, that the 2020 election was stolen from him.
Where are the right wing critics now? Where is their condemnation of this terrorism and treasonous subversion? So much hypocrisy on their part.

I think he's going to be dumb and fight and this will be televised much to his chagrin, along with Powell. They'll be convicted.
But if he takes the advice, it'll put a ton of pressure on others...
