You're just not listening. Old Salt: Rettig can tell you what they had on Hunter. He was there from 2018 to late 2022.

Yet neither you nor the House Republicans want to ask him questions, and to ask what he had, and what his opinion was.

Either you guys aren't all that bright (I don't believe that for a second).....or you REALLY don't want to hear what the man has to say.

If there's REALLY a cover up? Ask Rettig about what he had. Ask Barr what was in that Aug 2022 report. And ask Wray what he had.

You're doing NONE of these things. Its insane. Its like having Lee Oswald alive, and just letting him go on vacation without asking him a question or two.
Was Rettig even in the loop ? He was run out of office over other issues.

During a 2021 hearing, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden sought an explanation from then-IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig about why “tens of thousands of high-flyers got away with shirking their duty” to pay taxes and why so few violators were prosecuted.

“When we asked about the legal consequences, your office replied in a May 25th letter that the IRS asked the Department of Justice to charge 200 taxpayers for failing to file a return between 2014 and 2020,” Wyden, D-Ore., told Rettig. “Everybody else appears to have just gotten away with not paying the taxes that they owed.”

Rettig replied that he shared the senator’s concerns.

“The reference that you are referring to is under 7203, which is a misdemeanor for a failure to file an income tax return,” Rettig said, naming the statute that Hunter Biden is now expected to admit to violating.

“The system is not designed to effectively address misdemeanors,” Rettig explained. “We have limited resources in our Criminal Investigation function. Decisions have to be made based on resources.”

It is the Justice Department’s decision whether to indict misdemeanor tax cases, Rettig added, and “if they bring those cases, in the majority of those cases, the individual does not receive a period of incarceration.”

For many years, it has been Justice Department policy to charge the most serious offense that can be proven. Mr. Garland changed that policy in December 2022. The Tax Division Manual, however, still provides that prosecutors are specifically prohibited from permitting a defendant to plead to a misdemeanor when the elements of a felony can be proven. Yet according to the whistleblowers’ accounts, that is what is happening here.

Ms. O’Connor, a Washington lawyer, headed the U.S. Justice Department’s tax division, 2001-07.

If you consider failing to file & pay income taxes a process crime.

Papadop & Flynn were charged with felony process crimes.

So, you're now arguing that Hunter's crimes were no more than misdemeanors and cite that most such don't result in prosecution, much less incarceration.

Remember that was others' (like me) point that these crimes typically get plead out, particularly if there's restitution, and no jail time?

But what is being implied by you guys is that there's some other much more serious crime that Hunter committed that the IRS agents knew about but Weiss refused to prosecute or someone higher up in the DOJ refused to prosecute...what was it?

Surely, Rettig would know...surely Barr would know...?

Put them under oath...

First of all.

1. Sounds like you're agreeing that Hunter was treated like all these other cases.

2. Sounds like a guy you'd like to question if you believe the DoJ is hiding stuff. Yet neither you nor the House seem to even know who the heck the guy is. Understand that for me? This sounds INSANE that you're not the least bit interested in questioning this man.

Because Hunter was NO CONTEST the most important criminal case on Rettig's desk. OF COURSE he was briefed on the case. Yet no one wants to hear from him, and at the same time, you're all screaming that there's a cover up.

It doesn't square OS. Your attitude doesn't make sense......and it's OBVIOUS to me why the House wouldn't call Rettig, or Wray, or Barr.

It's obviously because they're going to tell you that they didn't find other crimes they could charge Hunter with....and THAT is why they're not calling these three men to testify.

Hunter's failure to file & then resolve the issue in a timely fashion prolonged the IRS investigation.
The IRS tracked me down in Spain & threatened to garnish my military pay within a year, when they failed to credit a payment check that cleared.
The plea deal was not reached until after Rettig left office. It was off Rettig's desk & still in the DoJ.

Then you're back to blaming Barr and Rettig for letting that happen. I'm on board with that.

Why did they allow Hunter to do that?

They didn't. It was still under investigation.

It's incredible that you are grasping at such diversions to distract (or make excuses) for Hunter's failure to pay taxes on 5 years of income.

IRS agent Shapley laid it all out in his testimony.

Process crimes!
If you consider failing to file & pay income taxes a process crime.

Papadop & Flynn were charged with felony process crimes.
And you complained. You are just another phony on this board with dressed up nomenclature.

It's obviously because they're going to tell you that they didn't find other crimes they could charge Hunter with....and THAT is why they're not calling these three men to testify.
exactly.

So, during Rettigs's and Barr's tenure they didn't have a more serious offense they could prove and didn't charge those they could prove...

Put them under oath and ask whether there was a crime worse than what Hunter long ago admitted...that's what these lower level IRS agents are claiming, though they too don't know what that would be...and the House MAGA are lapping it up...

But don't want to talk to Barr and Rettig...

And the Trump/Barr appointed prosecutor hasn't charged more serious crimes he could prove...why? Oh yeah, he's being prevented by Biden and Garland from doing so...and yet he says that's not the case...in writing to Congress...

No, it wasn't. The IRS was still working. And naturally, you're not curious as to why they couldn't finish a simple tax case with two guy working on it. But at the same time, you think they were dragging their feet.

But you don't want to blame the IRS for going slow.....until Biden showed up in Jan of 2021.
old salt wrote: Sun Jul 30, 2023 1:05 am It's incredible that you are grasping at such diversions to distract (or make excuses) for Hunter's failure to pay taxes on 5 years of income.
You're moving the goalposts. He's already on the hook for failing to pay taxes, OS. I'm 100% good with that, and whatever the DoJ does. Jail time, fines, whatever. Throw the book at him, and I'll go about my day.

YOU and TeamTinFoil are claiming that Hunter committed larger felonies that are being hidden by three agencies, which involves dozens of people. And all the key players are Trump appointees and registered Republicans. And these TeamTinFoil felonies? You can't even tell us what they are. You're just sure Hunter committed them. And your evidence? You don't have any, but hey, that's never stopped your claims before, so.....

And you don't want to question any of the men who you are telling us covered up Hunter's crimes. Which tells the forum A. you don't care what they found. and B. you know what they're going to say, and you don't want them to ruin your game of blaming the Dems.

IRS agent Shapley laid it all out in his testimony.

“Between April and June of 2020, we drafted an affidavit to execute a search warrant in a couple of different locations, and the prosecutors at the time stated that probable cause had been achieved,” Shapley told Baier. “But as we moved closer to the election, it just seemed like they kept putting it on the back burner and they eventually didn’t allow us to do that search warrant, even though the legal requirements to execute that search warrant were met.”

   Who was running the Justice Department from April to June of 2020, Old Salt?

And spectacularly, you don't want to ask Bill Barr a single question.

This is about as TinFoilHat as it gets: you have a conspiracy, yet you don't want to get answers from the exact people you are claiming are in your conspiracy.

And boy, I just LOVE that TeamTinFoil doesn't say to themselves "hey, wasn't Trump and Bill Barr running the Exec Branch and DoJ in the spring of 2020, when these guys are claiming a cover up?"

I am not sure I have seen anyone here defending Hunter Biden. It’s been about mocking the hypocrisy and the conspiracy theorists which is not the same thing as defending Hunter Biden. He’s a junkie that broke the law. Old Salt and crew had far less criticism of team Trump and his cronies….actually out up a vigorous defense of team Trump…… more hypocrisy….par for the course.

Such a simple solution to this entire chitshow. Hunter pleads guilty to all charges and excepts the consequences that might include jail time and carrying the badge of honor of being a convicted felon. That is what an honorable person would do. Hunter has never been accused of having any honor at all so that option will never work.
Then his dad can pardon him and all is right with the world again.

well....that would be the honorable thing to do, which would also have him fall on the sword of any potential Biden Crime Syndicate shenanigan's with 'the big guy' that may come about. And the FBI whistleblowers....which we were told only team tinfoil thought the FBI was some deep state apparatchik during the Trump term, now.....those FBI whistleblowers are just a minority of chaos, who are just out to get back; picking a lane is in order but it depends on which way the wind is blowing today.

 NONSENSE.

Dude, how many different ways can I write this: If the FBI, DoJ, and IRS are "in on it" : tell me in plain English, why doesn't teamtinfoil or the House want to hear from the leaders of those organizations?

I'll wait. Come up with your spin.

TeamTinFoil hears what they want to hear. What we are mocking here is that you and Old Salt are pretending that you are idiots.

These whistleblowers are claiming that this corruption started WHEN TRUMP WAS IN OFFICE.

I'll shout it again, so you get it: These whistleblowers are claiming that this DoJ, IRS, and FBI corruption started WHEN TRUMP WAS IN OFFICE.

Barr was in charge when the first of these claims are made about the DoJ, YouthA. And the report on Hunter's financial shenanigans in Ukraine was finished, and on Barr's desk in Aug of 2020. And you and OS don't want to hear what was in that report? Really?

Why don't you or Old Salt want to hear from the men in charge at the time?

THAT is what we're mocking.

You got a rebuttal? Or are you guys going to claim "this is A fan's vortex" which always means: a fan has made a simple and salient point, so after talking about this for months, I'm going to claim this is a bridge too far, and bail from the conversation.
