Big East 2024
Will we be looking at another “Georgetown & the Rest” type of season?

Re: Big East 2024
Maybe Nova will finally break thru and win its first BE championship, they have had the talent the last few seasons,in fact this spring they had 4 AA’s but still got beat up 3 times by Denver & GTown, maybe it is time for a different offensive look on the main line?

I will say one thing. For Villanova, seeing Georgetown winning conference tournament titles is one thing, due to all that Georgetown has to offer in recruiting. However, seeing Denver or Marquette winning another, or Providence winning their first, before Nova wins their first is another. Regardless of how many scholarships they have to offer.

I am going to go ahead and say that I think Marquette will be one of the most improved programs in 2024. They have a lot of talent back, and they had so many close losses.
Re: Big East 2024
It felt like Nova’s best shot was last year. They were experienced and had some high end talent. It just didn’t come together at the end of the year. Marquette is on the rise. Look out for that bunch!gymman1031 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 2:08 pm I will say one thing. Re: Big East 2024
Nova had tremendous talent the last 2 seasons & finished 3td both times, b/c they refuse to make offensive coaching adjustments. Tierney & Warne both have answers to Simon Conors offense, it was the same thing years ago when Gerry Byrne at ND would pack it in & let Nova run around all they want, it is a shame looking back to think that Nova has not taken that next step since Brian Karalunas was playing on the main line
Re: Big East 2024
Villanova finished 2nd the prior year, they lost to Georgetown in a close one in the Finals,
a milestone for that program,
they took the next step in 2022.
They took the next step in 2018, as well.

Yes. But they need to take the next step soon. That is, nothing short of a Big East Tournament title.

Yep! As I said, I think Marquette is going to be a top improved and surprised program in 2024. One other fact to remember is that even more of the talent will be Coach Stimmel's.Ozstriker wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2023 10:52 pmIt felt like Nova’s best shot was last year. Re: Big East 2024
In looking back at last season in the Big East, the issue at Nova was clearly not a lack of talent, they had 4 AA’s and their starting 10 was arguably the strongest in the league, the problem was management on offense not labor , Tierney & Warne both know how to defend Simon Conors motion offense in their sleep & Nova makes no adjustments when losing at halftime to both of those rivals. It just very frustrating to watch former Nova players scattered around the PLL and ask why is the Nova program still stuck in neutral
Re: Big East 2024
Arguably the strongest in the league? Gtown was 5-0 in Reg Season and 7-0 overall (NCAA quarters) to Nova’s 3-2 and 3-3 overall (no tourney bid). What metric are you using to “argue” best starting 10 in BE?
Re: Big East 2024
Villanova didn’t have the top starting 10 in the Big East.
They did have two 1st team All Americans, which they’ve never had.

Re: Big East 2024
I’ve never in the Lp and FL years seen one person talk about a strong but basically outside of top 15 always program’s assistant coach be mentioned exclusively by one poster as much as this person which ought to have been caught on by everyone around here by now.
Simon Conor should be queens new coach
Simon Conor is front runner for MSM
Sinon conor should be a HC because of his Delbarton pipeline
Simon Conor is a problem for Nova
This is silly and plain to see this person is attempting to drive an agenda and conversation about a person no one is really rightfully worrying about and feels shady and dishonest even on an anonymous set of lacrosse threads.

Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
I left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah

Another house though I had many teammates there. The basement wasn't cool back in the day.

Re: Big East 2024
The USILA is the official sanctioning body for AAs. On that list for 2023 I only see Campbell and Comizio. Both first team. No one else from Nova on second, third or honorable mention.
Re: Big East 2024
Georgetown had more talent that Nova this past year, and Denver was about even. It has been this way for the past 5 years or so, and will continue for the foreseeable future barring any major changes. Perhaps the limited scholarships at Nova is the reason.

Re: Big East 2024
I could have sworn that Austin Fraser and a close defenseman for Nova were also AA’s
Re: Big East 2024
Fraser and Reid Colwell were indeed named Honorable Mentions by USA Lacrosse Magazine, and Fraser was recognized as the same by Inside Lacrosse Magazine. Just not by the USILA. I think Georgetown had five USILA AAs.
