Texas probably has a lot of high schools with nicer football facilities than some of the d1 lacrosse fields and probably gets more local coverage and attendance.

Actually nicer than a LOT of D1 lacrosse fields and certainly with a larger seating capacity. Michigan, OSU open new facilities with 5k which would be small in Texas HS football.jhu06 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2023 11:09 am https://www.dallasobserver.com/news/the ... fw-7115295

Very cool, one day I'll have to hear more I find that fascinating. My last interaction was with this Paiute tribe around some mortgage business they needed to unwind that some generic non NA folks propped them on but we're picking the gains like they were fishing in a pond that had been bombed.OCanada wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2023 10:57 am I can’t say i prefer one to the other but Foxwoods is the one i know something about.

Ok, most D1 BB have been shrinking their facilities last number of years. Not sure that's an indicator of anything other than that Texas cares too much about football which is well documented. They can document Ali Larter and whipped cream more however if there's ever a Friday Night Lights sequel.jhu06 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2023 11:09 am https://www.dallasobserver.com/news/the ... fw-7115295

The #1 Boy's HS team in the nation, Lawrenceville, just completed their annual fundraiser and they raised $475 million from just over 7,000 donors...

For context, this is for the school's fund overall, not purely lacrosse related. But yeah, wow.

Chump change compared to what last year's #1 HS boys program can raise specifically for sports with all that Under Armor money. They raised almost as much from 1/7000th the number of donors.

If you want to do it that way, L'ville might win again. One person, Joe Tsai, has given an inordinate amount of money to L'ville and L'ville lacrosse. This includes the construction of the Joe Tsai Athletic Fieldhouse. And... Bottomline, relatively small HSs with an inordinate amount of money. Hard to ignore when discussing whether lacrosse is an aristocratic sport...OSVAlacrosse wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 3:17 pm Chump change compared to what last year's #1 HS boys program can raise specifically for sports with all that Under Armor money. Yesterday it was religious artifacts, today it is athletic ego monuments. Personally, I appreciate much of the sacred music artifacts to be of greater cultural significance, i.e. JS Bach’s compositions.Matnum PI wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 5:20 pmIf you want to do it that way, L'ville might win again. Not Bach, but did you see Immortal Beloved?…..as for composers, I like Bartok.PizzaSnake wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 6:27 pmYesterday it was religious artifacts, today it is athletic ego monuments. Great composer, but definitely from the profane tradition. No patronage, per se, from wealthy benefactors.Typical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 6:55 pmNot Bach, but did you see Immortal Beloved?…..as for composers, I like Bartok.PizzaSnake wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 6:27 pmYesterday it was religious artifacts, today it is athletic ego monuments. Under Armour is large but let’s at least scale it: Sub $6Bn in rev and that’s with heavily stuffing their channels if you see retail inventory issues and a mkt cap where $475mm would represent 8-9% of that.10stone5 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2023 6:29 amHardly chump change.OSVAlacrosse wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 3:17 pmChump change compared to what last year's #1 HS boys program can raise specifically for sports with all that Under Armor money. It’s more than I’ve got but when everyone goes “all That under armour money” seems relevant to actually put some scale around it.
