Doesn't the new HC get to choose her own staff? The answer to that is YES and AK had no say in that.

UNC CH is a fairly common way of referring to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It's a way to differentiate it from other schools in the UNC system such as UNC Charlotte (UNCC), UNC Wilmington (UNCW), UNC Greensboro (UNCG), UNC Asheville (UNCA), etc.
