I found recent couple of World Championship tournaments to be underwhelming. The archaic rules allow for a much slower game. With the World Games, the NCAA, and the PLL we have the lax version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The PLL is too hectic, the World Games is too slow and the NCAA is just right.

USA:
Rob Pannell

Canada:
Clarke Petterson
Jeff Teat

Haudenosuanee:
Kason Tarbell

Australia:
Tim Graham

Italy:

John Piatelli

I looked at Israel, Latvia and Norway, where players have participated in the past, but couldn't find any past players participating.
As a quick addition in the World Games, John Piatelli will play for Team Italy in Pool E. The pool includes Austria, Hong Kong, Mexico and Scotland. I assume that Piatelli has a good chance at being a real force against this level of competition.
Another addition is Christian Pasirik, 2009. Christian will play attack for Italy.

NJ First Team All State write up on Ryan Waldman: https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/more-s ... r-AA1cSVj3

A-Ryan Waldman, Westfield, Sr.

Waldman confounded opposing defenses with his ability to both create for teammates and shoot with accuracy, and he had a knack for playing his best when the stakes were at their highest. For instance, he netted six goals and assisted on five others in two games against Kirst Cup runner-up Summit, and he produced 14 goals and nine assists in four North, Group 4 tournament games this season. Among those outings was a career-best 10 points with six goals and four assists in a 15-8 victory over Montclair in the North semifinals. Waldman, a Cornell pledge, generated multiple goals in 12 games this season, including four in the Blue Devils’ North, Group 4 final loss to Ridgewood, the eventual Kirst Cup winner. He compiled 44 goals and 25 assists this spring to help Westfield finish 12-7 and ranked No. 9 in the final Top 20. He scored 119 goals and assisted on 60 for 179 career points.

For a fan who is not an expert on what makes a good defensive player beyond the obvious, this was really informative as well as highlighting why Adler is so dominant, even as a smaller defenseman. Gotta love the constant hustle!

Tim Graham sounds like he's out for the tournament. Hats off to his performance. He finished at 67% in total, after being blanked against the USA's two face-off men.

According to the ESPN announcers, Tim Grahm is 14-4 at the face off X against the Haudenosuanee today. I think that he ended up 15-4 for Australia.

Jeff Teat named All World Attack for the 2023 World Championship Tournament. Quite an honor.

Booth won't be at Cornell until 2025 from what I heard.

I just noticed that the NC$$ has replaced the Volunteer Coach position with a second Assistant Coach position. But Cornell still has Willie Klan listed as a volunteer.

Since Klan played GK, he must have had some influence on Ierlan's improvement (IMHO) this season.

Does anyone know if Klan (or someone else) will be taking the additional Assistant position at Cornell this coming season?

IL article about Firth and Collison. Collison has translated his box skill to the field. Let's hope Firth does, too:

Saw that article this morning, came here to share it. Great quote from the coach!

"Firth has proven over the last three OJLL seasons that he is one of the league’s most complete and dynamic players. His accumulation of 132 goals and 141 assists for 273 points (OJLL regular season and playoff games included) is nothing short of astonishing. We are witnessing greatness at the Jr. A level, a type of greatness that Beaches head coach Reilly O’Connor has never had the privilege to coach.

“I think Willem is special,” O’Connor said. “I don’t think there’s someone who has his skill, his smarts and his IQ. I haven’t seen that in a long, long time. He’s probably the most special player that I’ve ever coached.”"
