Not surprised Kelly, klaes, Nielsen and McCormack stayed put.
Kelly got a big new contract and is probably pretty settled in Denver
Klaes is nearly 50 and is a jmu alum. Why would she leave to build uva for the next 10 years?
McCormack just finished first year. Bad look to leave.
Nielsen seemed the most possible of those 4 names. She’s 35 and has been at Michigan for 5 years. Program is doing well. But I (personally) think uva is a better long term gig, mostly bc on the margin, more lax families/players will stay east than go to Michigan. Schools are equivalent in reputation. Uva has better weather. And it’s closer to hotbeds for parent travel. But as many posters have pointed out, there are countless reasons not to change jobs when you already have an excellent one….which she does.
As for Kennedy, I have heard she is well liked by the players so either way she will land on her feet.
Very curious who they get for this job. As has been said many times on this board, it’s an attractive position. They just don’t open up alll that often at top 10 programs.

UVA casting a pretty wide net. Reached out to Kelly, Klaas, Nielsen, and McCormick all who said thanks but no thanks. 2 current Patriot league head coaches and one Colonial head coach will interview as well as several top assistants include both from existing staff.

Also, to make things interesting, Kennedy apparently has a 2 year contract through next year so I think she is likely around even if she doesn't get the head job, assuming UVA won't buy her out.

Rumor going around here at a showcase is he turned down Ohio State. Guess they rewarded him.

Look for an extension announcement on Rowan soon as well.

Honestly don't know who the actual coaches are. My source just told me who by conference who was interviewing. I have a guess on one, but it is just gut instinct and not based on anything solid.

She was discussed for the OSU opening. Why would UVA consider her?
Great college player but no college coaching experience.
Adams, Tumalo and Lamonica sound like more likely candidates.

Grote left Penn State for Lehigh. Thought she was their offense coordinator. That’s a Step down no?

Coach Grote's 2 year tenure at PSU exceeds the average lifespan of a PSU women's assistant lacrosse coach. PSU the last few years is competing for the title of schools with the highest turnover of assistant coaches.

That’s unfortunate. Is it because they are underpaid?

My daughter loved Geiger, she leaves last year. Loves Nicole, she leaves this week. Only coach she’s not crazy about it Doherty. Doesn’t dislike her, just doesn’t feel a connection. Certainly going to come into play come September 1 if we hear from Penn State which is more than likely.

Food for thought. SI published an article on the top 4 candidates for the UVA job. Dipper, Appelt, Nielsen, Harrington.

Here is the correct link

https://www.si.com/college/virginia/all ... head-coach

IMO, Dipper is unlikely (too new), Appelt, Best recent alum/player but unimpressive coaching record. Nielsen supposedly already declined. Maybe Harrington.

I think this is still speculation and rumor. I don’t doubt that some or all of these women were “on the list”. But I doubt this story has much insight into where the search currently stands ….

These are speculated candidates. Not reporting on actual finalists.

Some of these women are definitely not in the running.

Sorry for the bad link. I agree that article is purely speculative. However, truly can see Harrington being a viable candidate if enough coaches say no. She’s got ties to UVA, and is coming off Richmond’s most successful season in program history. Exciting times in the wlax world.
