Ohio State finished interviews last week and offered the job out on Friday. Assuming that all parties will be notified by early next week.

Virginia called Liza Kelly who declined. The admin is obviously kicking the tires on big name coaches.

Assistants are starting to land at their new schools so you should see an uptick in release coming post July 1st.

And your thought on who is getting OHS?

You will find out this week! Quite the process from what I am told, seems as if it had a few different turns.

LMAO. You’re like that kid in high school that goes up to people and say “hey did you see what happened to John Smith.” No. “Well I can’t tell you.”
I hope they get this hammered out soon. Waste of money hitting places that have Ohio State coaches right now. They have a prospect camp in a few weeks. Was going to go but probably passing now. Was in my daughters top 5.

I think sometimes it’s nice to just let it come out via press release but I have always been a fan of Jack Sparrow as well. Speaking of which, I think it’s interesting to see the press releases surrounding the candidates after a hire. Paints a picture….

I would have liked to have seen another year or two of the 2023 type results ECU had before landing Barnes at a Big Ten job. But her background is solid nonetheless. I think it is a reasonable hire. She undoubtedly has her hands full there. A. An admin that obviously wants to win (and will fire your ass if you don’t!), B. a roster that needs much improvement to compete with defending natty champs in Chi-town, Terps, etc., C. Hiring a staff of proven recruiters at the Big Ten-ACC level

I think Amanda will be a great fit.

Previously worked there as an assistant years ago so has a good knowledge of the school and now a great new facility to help in recruiting.

She has a solid ACC background through playing at UNC and coaching at Duke prior to the success starting the program at ECU.

Agree that it will be a tough and high pressure gig though. Maybe the administration have seen in this process that getting a “big name” to move out there isn’t an easy task and had a reality check!

It’s not about who they interviewed, but who they targeted. And that’s not a shot at who they ultimately interviewed and hired. Just saying their aspirations were high and the conversations they had with folks in the community went all the way to the top of the coaching pyramid.

Rumor going around here at a showcase is he turned down Ohio State. Guess they rewarded him.

some decently reliable info.

UVA casting a pretty wide net. Reached out to Kelly, Klaas, Nielsen, and McCormick all who said thanks but no thanks. 2 current Patriot league head coaches and one Colonial head coach will interview as well as several top assistants include both from existing staff.

Also, to make things interesting, Kennedy apparently has a 2 year contract through next year so I think she is likely around even if she doesn't get the head job, assuming UVA won't buy her out.
