Would Phil Barnes or Colleen Shearer be UVA candidates? I could see Tumolo being extremely successful here. Not sure it's enough of a step up for Klaes or Adams to leave their current positions...

Re: Coaching Carousel 2022-2023
There is every possibility that Dowd knew the UVA job would be open ... and picked Brown. Just as we will never know the whole story behind who picks which school or how and where players decide to transfer, there are many drivers/factors that go into these decisions: personal, academic, professional and otherwise.NULax2 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 7:34 amAgreed, too bad she took the Brown job. She would’ve been perfect for UVA.Old Bay addict wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 7:23 amOne of the greatest offensive minds in the game. Even though she left in 2020, anything that Carolina did from 2019 to last year‘s national championship can be easily contributed to the Katrina Dowd effect.
She molded that offense and all of the 2017-2019 offensive recruits. They were young and lost the semis to BC in double OT in 2019, and IMO, would they have won it all in 2021 if she was OC.
Does it feel weird to anyone else that Myers quits now?
Re: Coaching Carousel 2022-2023
I doubt it. Loyola has been getting better each of the last 3-5 years. Certainly better than UVA at this point. The plusses would be ACC play and historic Blue blood program rep....a negative, starting over at a school where WLAX is just one of many non-Football, non-revenue sports....MLAX/WLAX at Loyola is Football to them. Big program/fish, small pond....

The real X factor is how much Myers pulled down from all of her camps. Based on salary alone, this isn't a move up.
I highly doubt Adams or Klaes would go to UVA unless they relax their admissions policies for transfer portal. Barnes would be a great fit, but I don't see UVA hiring a male to coach a women's team after some of the issues in other sports over the past 5 years.
Shearer would be a surprise and I know she didn't leave UVA on best of terms. (Some of that could be on Myers though).
If they go down the existing head coach path, I think Harrington and Kim Wayne could be decent shouts with Harrington having a better chance. Harrington because she is an up and coming coach and proven recruiter. Wayne because she know how to overachieve in a high academic requirement environment.

Lauri Kenis is a UVA alum. She would be my first choice if I was UVA.

I have no idea whether Jen Adams would or would not consider a move to uva. As watcher points out, there are tons of inputs to that decision.Dr. Tact wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 1:15 pmI doubt it. But to suggest that it could be because she has a better chance of building a perennial top 5-10 team at loyola than at uva seems far fetched.
UVA checks more boxes in terms of recruiting potential than nearly any other school in the country. Certainly more than Loyola. Or JMU for that matter.
One of the top 3 public universities in the United States and a top 25 ranked academic school. Beautiful campus and top notch college town. Consistently one of the most popular schools in the nation to apply to for the lacrosse player demographic. Storied program whose WORST teams are still always ranked in the top 20. In state admissions treatment for athletic recruits. Fully funded program. Plays in the ACC.
There are many reasons why any individual coach would choose not to apply for the head coaching job. But the notion that they have a better chance of competitive success long term somewhere else, save for a tiny handful of schools (bc, unc, nw, md, cuse) seems wrong to me..

Is there something I don’t know about. Uva has two undergrad transfers in the roster. Goalie Ashley Vernon and defender kasey Hogarth. How is uva disadvantaged?

Last 2 years for the Hounds have been great. I think if they get over that Cuse hump in the regular season that gets them in the top 5. They were close the last 2 years. Plus Jen Adams has the full support of the entire athletic department as women’s lax is currently the best sports team at Loyola by far. The men’s team has underperformed the last 2 years.Dr. Tact wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 1:15 pmI doubt it. Loyola has been getting better each of the last 3-5 years. Amanda Barnes Moore is a good UVA candidate. Played at UNC, was DC for five years at Duke while they were very strong, started the program at ECU which has outperformed expectations. Good fit.
Re: Coaching Carousel 2022-2023
Amy Slade (Appelt) could be another alum in the mix?

Starters from last year's team are in the transfer portal, if they do not correct the situation soon it will be too late.
Which Colgate starters are in the portal?

“quit” is secret code for the job was opened up.

Jessica Drummond from uvm to Univ of Oregon
Re: Coaching Carousel 2022-2023
I hope she turns this program around. A good Oregon team is good for West Coast Lacrosse.

What’s the latest on Ohio State?
I have this weird feeling a current BCS Head Coach is going to end up with it….

Ohio State finished interviews last week and offered the job out on Friday. Assuming that all parties will be notified by early next week.
Virginia called Liza Kelly who declined. The admin is obviously kicking the tires on big name coaches.
Assistants are starting to land at their new schools so you should see an uptick in release coming post July 1st.

You will find out this week! Quite the process from what I am told, seems as if it had a few different turns.LaxGnome22 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 10:16 pmAnd your thought on who is getting OHS?Insidelax33 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 3:54 pm Ohio State finished interviews last week and offered the job out on Friday.
