Never too early to start.
I will say that I like my Tigers next year, as good a shot as any to four peat in Suffolk A. We'll have to replace one of the best players on the Island in Drew Miller, but young guys on the offensive side should make a jump next year.
How do the other defending county champs look? Any others to look out for to make a big jump? In Suffolk A Hills was very young and should be quite good next year.

Manhasset returns most of the their starting defense, but must replace Flood and Lapina. Im returns in Goal. They obviously have to try and attempt to find an adequate replacement for Cal. Offensively they return a lot of talent, led by Danny Kolin.LI13 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 9:20 pm Never too early to start.

I was just looking ahead to next year so I’ll chip in what I observed. I think Nassau B & C will be more competitiveLI13 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 9:20 pm Never too early to start.

Suffolk
- in A I agree it looks like Northport is in great shape. WM brings back a decent amount, might be your toughest competition?
- in B it looks like EI could be the favorite….returning their top 7 offensive contributors. Could they be one of the top teams on LI?
- in C I’m guessing SWR will be favorite. Seems like Mt Sinai and even BBP lose too much
Nassau
- Class A: Farmingdale loses a couple important players but return enough difference makers. Port, Syo, and Pequa seem to lose a bigger % of key players and were weaker teams to start with
- Class B seems interesting: GC will go through another reload cycle. How good will South Side be? They have a lot of talent returning and were very competitive against the top Nassau teams this year
- Class C: Manhasset returns a very strong D and solid goalie. Cromwell is an offensive mind, so he’ll figure out putting points on the board, but they lose a lot of difference makers. Wantagh was good this year and they’ll return enough that next year could get interesting….their FO guy is very good and comes back, so that dynamic will reverse
- Class D: CSH probably has no competition on LI again. This 8th grader Testa looks really good

Joe, aside from Kolin and maybe Arnold & Mondiello, which offensive players are you thinking aboutJoeMauer89 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 9:38 pmManhasset returns most of the their starting defense, but must replace Flood and Lapina. I think his last name is Giacobbe. Plus I think there was a freshman that should play a role next year. JV had a strong year.kr522 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 10:14 pmJoe, aside from Kolin and maybe Arnold & Mondiello, which offensive players are you thinking aboutJoeMauer89 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 9:38 pmManhasset returns most of the their starting defense, but must replace Flood and Lapina. It's been that way since I was there (mid 1970s). A couple of the fathers in my men's league live in the district and have kids playing there. They said it's next man up there. Coach Bonn knows how to work the players he gets into a solid team by the time playoffs come around. Playing up against larger schools with quality programs really helps.

No rest for the weary.
Re: Long Island 2024
Not if you want a college coach/scout to actually see you play
Re: Long Island 2024
So I hear next year Manhasset moves back to B and Southside drops to C
Re: Long Island 2024
If the cutoffs are correct where I'm reading them (A - 1026, B - 734), then the biggest changes are that F-M and Ithaca are headed back to A. Nisky is 4 kids short of A.

Re: Long Island 2024
Awesome, this is what I like to hear! Allows for an additional OOC game as B has slightly less teams in that classification and playing GC won't be considered one of our Non-Conference games!

I wish I had your enthusiasm! For me one Woodstick a year is perfect and then not interfering with each others playoff runs has been very nice but it will definitely amp up the rivalry. not sure about an extra OOC game because they’d have to drop South SideJoeMauer89 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2023 8:42 pmAwesome, this is what I like to hear! Chris I don’t know the exact numbers but SS should be in C. good timing for them to make a go of it
Re: Long Island 2024
I'm looking at the 2023-24 BEDS numbers and SS is at 740. Unless the cutoff is between 740 and 746, Manhasset and South Side will be in the same class.kr522 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 17, 2023 9:33 amI wish I had your enthusiasm! I heard it from one of the GC parents so I figured they got it on authority, but I can’t swear by it. Maybe you’re rightLI13 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 17, 2023 2:46 pm And here's my source for the class cutoffs: https://nysphsaa.org/sports/2021/6/8/cl ... tions.aspx

Can we use this thread instead for Long Island, as it already has a full page of replies?
Re: Long Island 2024
Apparently the cutoff seems to be 775 based on the leagues Suffolk put out, which would put both Manhasset and South Side in C.
