But seriously, who didn't know this was coming? Lars has a plan. Hope for UVa's sake it's a better plan than the 4th quarter against ND.
I think Turner may be more promising as a HC long-term than Kirwan. Just a feeling...
Re: UVA 2024
Lars was a head coach for 10 years prior to plucking Kirwan from obscurity to run his offense, and those 10 years were pretty mediocre. No one knows how much the rise of Lars over the last decade was due to Kirwan, but we might find out soon!

Obscurity?? Champ at Tufts as a player in 2010 and then as an assistant in 2014 and 2015 is from obscurity?? I’d die on the the ACC is the best conference hill with you but c’mon man dude was going to be successful with or without Lars. Thing is I think most Tufts alums go the corporate route as opposed to coaching, so maybe he looks for someone else from the Mike Daly tree. Or extend a hand out to MVA to return to Charlottesville?

Too short a golf season (June - Sept) in Hanover for Kip
to even consider joining SK……Kip
awaiting his own HC opportunity….might have to wait Lars’
stepping down at some point - would be the best fit for KT….alma mater commitment/personable/ knowledgeable/ played the game at the highest level….not sure LT sees him as the OC…..as opposed to continuing as goalie/FO assistant…..should get a raise though….or at least a new $600 Callaway Paradym driver!

Re: UVA 2024
some odd takes here. head coach is ceo at most programs. having good to great c-suite or sr vp execs is paramount in most cases. lars has been pretty good at least lately here. he'll hire to their identity on offense and probably have good candidates to do so.
Re: UVA 2024
He was a home run hire by Lars, but let’s not pretend he was a well known name when brought on at Brown. Whoever they hire as his replacement will have a far bigger reputation than he did in 2015. Maybe he goes Danny Murphy from the Tufts tree…creasecone66 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 6:17 pmObscurity?? Fair enough, I can’t argue what your definition of “well known” is. Had to be pretty obtuse to not see what Tufts was doing and the success they were having playing an uptempo style players like to play pre-shot clock, but if DIII is the same as club, then yea he wasn’t well known. Credit to Lars for going all-in on the style when Kirwan moved from Medford to Providence.BigTom5 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 12:08 amHe was a home run hire by Lars, but let’s not pretend he was a well known name when brought on at Brown. I think Murphy is going to be a great coach as he continues to climb the ladder, but unsure if he’s ready for the ACC yet. Have to imagine Jim Mitchell is one of the better OC candidates available.

Rumor is it is a current head coach.BigTom5 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 12:08 amHe was a home run hire by Lars, but let’s not pretend he was a well known name when brought on at Brown. Is it rumored to be a current d1 head coach that already resides in Virginia?coda wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 4:59 pmRumor is it is a current head coach.BigTom5 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 12:08 amHe was a home run hire by Lars, but let’s not pretend he was a well known name when brought on at Brown. From Ty Xanders, UVA picks up some faceoff depth with a grad transfer from Binghamton, Matthew DeSouza (top 10 in FO percentage in the country in 2023): https://twitter.com/tyxanders/status/16 ... 77344?s=20

Love the lack of IL hype but More important, he went well over 50% against Sissleberger at Lehigh and Burke at Vermont last year. That’s pretty fair competition and helps to fill a void for Virginia. The Orfling wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 9:36 pm From Ty Xanders, UVA picks up some faceoff depth with a grad transfer from Binghamton, Matthew DeSouza (top 10 in FO percentage in the country in 2023): https://twitter.com/tyxanders/status/16 ... 77344?s=20

On a serious note, not a big fan of this, but I can understand him wanting to get out of Bethlehem.
A fraudulent intent, however carefully concealed at the outset, will generally, in the end, betray itself.
