Mule is strictly a left handed attackman and you already have a leftie in Hiltz and a ball dominant X attackman in Spillina. I don’t see how Mule fits. Kirst fit because he was ambi with size who could be run out of the box, play inside or step down from 15, Mule doesn’t offer that flexibility. So who are you going to take minutes from? Spillina or Hiltz?JeremyCuse wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 2:40 pm Mule is a nice pickup for Cuse, he should slide into the attack spot vacated by Kirst and gives a solid dodger that takes the pressure off of Mule. Hearing SU is also keying in on a FOGO.

Re: Transfer Portal 2024
Spallina can play from GLE as well, he doesn't have to always be at X. He's shown the ability to do both though he did play at X a lot this past season he moved around some when Kirst moved full time to atack. He can also play as a crease finisher so I don't think Mule playing at X at certain points will be that much of an issue. From the Lehigh games I can remember Mule seemed comfortable playing as a general attackmen versus playing one side of the field but I would need to go back and watch some games to be sure.bar_down wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 4:27 pmMule is strictly a left handed attackman and you already have a leftie in Hiltz and a ball dominant X attackman in Spillina. SU could attempt to play him at middie but unless they're planning to move Thomson back to attack there really isn't an opening on the 1st midfield right now and I doubt Mule agreed to come into play on the 2nd midline.

Re: Transfer Portal 2024
Galloway is also bringing in 20+ freshmen in addition to turning Jacksonville into Transfer U. I've always wondered how well a D1 version of a Salisbury or Tampa would do.

that should just about wrap up the silly season for Jacksonville.

I have thoughts but they haven’t exactly gotten over the hump yet and keep falling short in their big games to actually make the playoffs - of that continues it will reverse itself. Too much leverage to one strategy or system can unwind fast.
Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold

Yup a Canadian with 1 year left and SU needing some high end D help who can play immediately, hard to find a better match.GaitsRightHand wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 12:56 pmSaw this coming a mile awayJeremyCuse wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 12:37 pm Wright to Cuse

Re: Transfer Portal 2024
IMHO It’s hard to find a more loathesome D1 program than Jacksonville right now. The players are clearly nothing more than a disposable commodity in that program. They bring in 25 players a year between transfers and recruits. Galloway figures out who he wants to keep and runs the rest off. Franky I hope he falls flat on his face.

With regards to Darminio, you can’t discount the fact that Jville has a former LYN player/coach on staff.GaitsRightHand wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 1:45 pm Jax is loving the D3 guys. Probably because they're like Juco guys at this point. Transferring in, but two years of eligibility once they get there.
Re: Transfer Portal 2024
I find it interesting that of the 84 kids in the portal (using Lacrosse Bucket's list) only 20 are underclassmen. That includes the D3 kids who have already found a new program (they're all seniors). The 20 underclassmen number seems like a really low number to me but I have no way of comparing this to where we were at this point last year. If anyone has access to that list I'd be interested to see the comparison. One school of thought is that the underclassmen are much smarter than they were last year about announcing, but that is really hard to prove. The other is that with all of these seniors taking their extra year somewhere else it makes sense to wait and see where they land.

Mule seems like an underrated pickup for them as well. He was better than Kirst or Schelling at Lehigh IMO.GaitsRightHand wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 12:56 pmSaw this coming a mile awayJeremyCuse wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 12:37 pm Wright to Cuse

Re: Transfer Portal 2024
Aren't most of the Seniors using the opportunity to pay for graduate school(the student athletes anyway) and their current school may or may not have what they are looking for. Unlike the current debacle with unregulated NIL, it's great that these players can use the sport to further their education, as opposed to just make a few bucks.BrownDad wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 2:12 pm I find it interesting that of the 84 kids in the portal (using Lacrosse Bucket's list) only 20 are underclassmen. Re: Transfer Portal 2024
You have to remember that 16 of those seniors/grads are Ivy League. They have no choice but to transfer if they want to play. That and Covid skews the statistics.BrownDad wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 2:12 pm I find it interesting that of the 84 kids in the portal (using Lacrosse Bucket's list) only 20 are underclassmen. Mule is excellent as is Stevens. English and Wright are two other good adds. Fogo next .Cuse has been slaying it the last two years in portal after flubs.
