I think he also added physicality to the English language lexicon, too.wahoomurf wrote: ↑Sat May 20, 2023 5:28 pm My H.S. coach played lacrosse and football at Syracuse, 4 years after "32" left SU for the Browns. He said the aura of Jim Brown permeated the locker rooms. If a player screwed up on the field, Schwartzwalder and Simmons would bark out "Jim Brown did it. Why can't you'?

Glenn "Pop" Warner, the Hall of Fame football coach at the Carlisle Indian School (PA) from 1899 to 1903, substituted lacrosse for baseball during the spring season because he said, "Lacrosse is a developer of health and strength. It is a game that spectators rave over once they understand it." It is also likely that lacrosse, a contact sport, helped prepare his football players for the fall season.[11]
