SlingtheRock7 wrote: Sat Apr 15, 2023 11:38 am The game of the weekend has to be Kent vs. Albany Academy. It has now been 1,435 days since Kent last won a lacrosse game (5/11/19: 9-8 over Westy). I'm not even talking about a Founder's League game, but ANY actual regular-season lacrosse game. They had three potentially winnable games on their schedule this year: Evergreen (CO), NMH, and Albany. They got killed 9-1 against Evergreen and fell to NMH 11-7. If they lose to Albany it's basically guaranteed that they lose out the rest of the schedule for their 3rd winless season in a row (2020 Covid season not included). The school should probably consider just disbanding the program at this point.
12-7 Albany, the beatings go on. I have been banging the Kent to West-2 drum for years. They play several games vs those schools every year already. I know tradition holds them in Founders but it is almost abusive to the players at this point. It looks like alums sacrificing them to satisfy their own ego as to who their alma mater plays. They would be an upper mid-pack West-2 team but lose competitive games to the 3 or 4 teams who would usually be better. A sad state of affairs.
As an alum, I could not agree more. It's humiliating for anyone associated with the program, especially for the players. It already happened last year, but there will now be multiple Kent classes with 4-year varsity players who will graduate high school having never won a lacrosse game. If the administration doesn't want to support the sport any longer, fine. But don't then go require these kids to go out and try and compete against teams with at least 7+ college commits while you have, at most, 1. It's not fair to the players, nor is it fair to the other Founders League teams, who have to travel over an hour for a game that's realistically nothing more than a pre-game warm-up for the starters.
I completely concur. Winning (even a few) games is more fruitful for the Kent students than playing in the top league in the country (although MIAA-A fans will differ...).

West 2 is the perfect league for them, and it's in the same geographic footprint as West-I. If Kent wants to stay in West-I, they need to make the commitment. Taft went from so-so to West-I midpack to national top 5 or 10 in a couple of years, and Kent needs to either spit or get away from the spittoon.

Big week this week. Anyone heard of Saturdays games are getting made up?

TP (3-2 not 2-3) hosts DA (5-3). Think the pride take this one. A bit more buttoned up on defense than the Big Green. FO should go the pride way. Goalie should make a difference for the pride. We’ll see if they defend home field.

Taft with a big game against Wick. Would love to see the Rhinos add to Wicks misery right now. Taft had a great win Vs. Hill. Are they sure enough in their 10 man against Wicks athletes??

Avon and Choate play. Avon wins this by 4 or 5. Choate is not as good as their record says. They’ve had one good game and beat a lower DA team by 1. Yes first time in 17 years but 6-0 needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Avon hungry after getting run off their home turf at night by Bury this weekend.

Hotchkiss Vs Berkshire. I expect Berkshire gets a good win here.

Loomis will beat up on Kent. God is kent bad.

Salisbury Vs Westy. Expect a big salisbury W. They are catching fire after narrowly avoiding the loss vs TP. Takes a close one like that to awaken the beast that is Brady Wambach and the Sarum Knights.

Should be a good Wednesday!

Watched the Salisbury v Avon game. When they turned it on in this game they played like a hot knife through butter. When they clocked out mentally they made a ton of errors, some forced and too many self inflicted. Avon had a 2 minute unreleasable penalty in the 2 qtr that hurt them. I think Salisbury scored 4 during the penalty. Arguably, I guess, that 2 minute penalty was the difference given the final score. It did feel like gap should have been bigger in the end. And Wamabach is a beast. Seems to be going under the radar a little bit.

Not so accurate Division 1-2-3 rankings

D2 West: Millbrook moves to the top of the rankings. Brunswick B is an unknown but potentially very good

D3: Harvey beat D2 Hamden

Agree with grelch on the AOF salisbury game. I was at the game and the atmosphere was electric (thank goodness no thunderstorms) but Salisbury was also electric, dominating in all aspects. I agree the penalty hurt but AOF losing their FOGO in the last game did not help as he did not play in this game. Kudos to AOF for hanging in there but Salisbury looks good

We'll know a lot more about Salisbury after they meet L'Ville on Saturday. Assuming they get past Westminster which they ought to do.

That will be a great game. Lville was expected to be good but I am surprised at actually how good they are. Conversely, Westy has been a disappointment for a while. Hopefully they can get out of the NE West basement in the future but to be honest, I don't know very much about what they are doing to right the ship

Wick loses another. Big w for Taft. 10-9. Good, physical game. Lots of good goaltending at both ends. Wick's shooting was off target in the 4th. Lots of possession but no scoring.

I saw the last 9 minutes of the 4th quarter. Taft goalie either stood on his head or 'wick couldn't hit the cage.

Both teams looked like DI squads with skinny legs. Sublime lacrosse with no ego or showmanship. I was very impressed

TP player dove across the crease to shoot. Couldn't tell whether he scored or was saved or he missed. Looks like he took the goalie out in the process. While the TP player was down on his back a Deerfield defenseman ran from about 15 yards away and did a flying suplex on him. Tbh, it all seems to have confused the refs.

Salisbury won 17-5 I think.

Deerfield 15, Trinity-Pawling 6, FINAL.

Big Green exploded after the long discussion and sorting out of multiple penalties early in the 3rd.

Watching Taft/'wick replay at https://events.locallive.tv/events/104234.

Taft would walk away with this if they decided not to gilman all their clears

'wick can't seem to hit the cage in a 6v6 situation.

I never got the password. I just logged in during the live stream and then slid the cursor back to the beginning and got to see the whole game again.

I take it that my link doesn't work with a PW now?
