DocBarrister
Doc the one thing that I have seen from Milliman and Hopkins is that they have developed as a team We have not seen that here with Loyola

Shock is an understatement good players that have not been developed or put into the right opportunity to be successful

Almost a repeat of last year
I have always loved the way Loyola plays lacrosse, but I don’t even recognize this as Loyola-style lacrosse.

Where’s the aggressive D causing turnovers? They’ve been playing zone?!?

Where’s that aggressive Loyola ride?!?

Where are the SSDMs pushing transition O?

Who kidnapped the Loyola lacrosse team?

Enough with the zone D. If you’re going to lose big to GT, lose big being aggressive.

Deploy the aggressive ride. Deploy an aggressive man-to-man.

Just embarrassing performance by the Hounds. Both sides of the ball. Players have regressed. Just so sad to see this. No answers here.

23-7 Love to here the take from Greying and Kram on the effort that was put forth today yes Georgetown is good but not 23-7 better than Loyola

Like Doc said same team that beat Hopkins and Maryland

Program is going in the wrong direction

Tough to watch them play

Just my two cents but I think they’re just an easy team to scout offensive wise. You shut down 2-3 guys then the offense completely stalls. It’s also so so hard to get any momentum or any possessions when you get dominated every game on faceoffs.

Happy to oblige, but I really don't know what to say. I did not expect a win, but I also didn't expect the disaster I saw tonight. Honestly, "effort" didn't look like the problem to me. Instead, it looked to me like we were a slower, smaller, weaker, less athletic team than the Hoyas. We were outmatched in every single aspect of the game. I don't need to list them all.

When we tied the score at 2 early in the 1st quarter, I thought there might be hope that we could keep it close. Binney's outside bomb was sweet, and we scored the second goal off of some very nice offensive movement, but after that, there was no question Georgetown would run away with it. Nearly every ground ball was an opportunity to see which team was more talented and had more energy.

As I mentioned earlier, my expectations were low entering this season, but the first two games gave me tremendous hope. Tonight was even worse than I could have imagined before the season began. Completely uninspiring.

I'll be at Ridley again on Saturday. I hope we figure some things out before we play Colgate (who came extremely close to beating Army two weeks ago - Army stole the 1-goal win on 2 EMO goals in the final minutes). Nothing we tried tonight worked.

Go Hounds!

Similar to last year and Toomey was. Or concerned then because he was focused on PL. I will be curious what Saturday looks like for the Hounds. They do not look like a top 20 team right now. What’s the opposite of peaking?

I saw the same. Ain't gonna pile on with negativity. Hope to see some improvement on Saturday. We'll see. Back to the drawing board.

Just wondering out loud. Earl season the freshmen (Minicus, Haberman, Murphy, Cote and McCullough) looked good. Lately they seem lost (Except Minicus). Haberman has a couple goals in past four but looks nothing like he did early. Where is Hugh Brown and Brady West? They don’t even get on the field. I’m wondering if the long haul of a season is catching up to these kids. Fall ball, early indoor practices in January. I know that when I played the freshmen were burnt out by the playoffs. Hopefully they can get back to where they were early on.

This shouldn’t be an excuse for the upperclassmen though. They’ve been through it all and should be peaking rather than slumping. I remember watching the Dixon kid at Loyola HS. Kid was lightning and could score. I know he was hurt last year but this year he gets zero runs.

This team doesn’t seem to be having fun out there.

Dixon broke his jaw from taking a shot to the face in fall ball, I believe he’s back but he only played in one game. I think he was injured his freshman season as well so he’s redshirted and behind in development.

Hugh brown came onto campus with a pretty bad back injury and they redshirted him for the year. Other guys like mcgorry and Sullivan were injured (mcgorry is recovered but redshirting and Sullivan tore his ACL)

Brady west is available but I guess he’s not getting a lot of runs?

It’s hard to have fun per say when the team is on a losing streak

No prob, it makes me wonder what the offense could be like if we had these midfielders available.

But college sports is next man up mentality and it worked for the first two games but now the offense struggles in their sets. Much like last year, the path to the NCAA is winning the PLT. The next two games are imperative to getting a tiny bit of momentum. Playoffs start now

Speaking of the PL tourney, in looking at the remaining games, if the Hounds drop the next two games, there is at least one scenario where we would miss the PL tournament for the first time ever. Please check my math, but I believe that if Bucknell beats Lafayette and Navy to get to 4-4, and Colgate beats Holy Cross, we would lose the tiebreaker to Colgate and be left out of the tournament.

So, we are indeed effectively in the playoffs now.

A couple more thoughts about last night's game:
  • Kamish was not in uniform. Hopefully we get him back this Saturday.
  • Cottone went 7-13 at the X, which is encouraging.
  • I was surprised how fast Toomey pulled Staudt, but he only had 1 save, so...
  • I don't know whether or not Minicus is fully recovered, but he played great for having been out for 2 weeks.

I'll be there (in the rain). The Hounds will turn it around. New season starts tomorrow.

Is there a secret fanlax forum handshake? :P

Yes it was sloppy but the big guns came to play. I’ve been all over James this year but today he was the guy that was our best player earlier in the season. He and Poitras each had 4 goals. Minicus with 4 more. Kamish and Heuston also scored from the midfield. Seems like they limited Davis after his turnovers the past few weeks which seems smart. Pacheco got better in the second half as did the defense.

Problem is that Colgate isn’t good and we were in real trouble with a bad team at home in front of a great crown on Senior day. Colgate threw the ball away so many times. That’s not going to happen v Lehigh next week.

Congrats on the win.

I agree the big guns finally showed up, but this is typically a game where the starters are out by the third and resting we need the big guns to show up consistently just not against the sub par teams

If, as Toomey said after Georgetown it was a come to Jesus moment in the Locker room, it seems to me that the players would have more of a sense of urgency and not let Colgate hang around
