Bad no-goal call, but going down 9-4 with an insane FO advantage was the main issue for B.

As an objective observer that was as bad a call as I’ve seen in some time; and a painful way to lose an undefeated year. But that, as they say, is the “rub of the green”. Any coach I’ve been around would be telling his team “We can’t leave it in the hands of the refs”.

Listen, it happens. One excellent team lost to another. That's it. Being #1 really shouldn't be the objective. Win the league, play the best teams as best you can and that's it. Being an arbitrary top seed in the country is very nice but it's a subjective metric. What happens on the field is what matters. Wick ran into a team that was their equal and when the final buzzer blew they were a goal behind. Onto the next game.

Is that a turf field at Deerfield? Did they finally get rid of that pot hole filled potato patch they used to play on?

Potato 🥔 patch was my era. The lush natural grass of the Varsity football field was off limits except for four Fridays & Saturdays each Fall. The mid-90’s I believe the football field was allowed for lax. Field turf field this game was played on is in the North meadows. A classmate of mine donated it and as it’s on the upper level (instead of spring runoff/flood prone lower level including football field) it offers reliable early season (and anytime) option.

I loved that potato patch, by the way. Knew the individual divots for wacky goalie befuddling bounce shots!

Actually think the other 2 games could be competitive too. Especially the Berkshire v Avon game. Salisbury ought to beat TP, but I reckon it’ll only be by 3 or 4.

Did NMH really put 17 on Avon? If so then that's a big step in the right direction for them after years of getting hammered.

Avon's Instagram had the final at 19-7. So still getting hammered pretty good.

Not so accurate Division 1-2-3 rankings

Starting to get a sense but still too early to tell. We know who the bad teams are but some teams have had cupcake schedules and others have had incredibly hard schedules. Hotchkiss and Choate are undefeated but has close wins against a very easy schedule whereas Loomis has 2 difficult losses. I didnt give Taft a win which is what they put on their website when Army game was canceled - anyone have any insight but beating Andover 24-4 was a wow! AOF with a close 1 goal loss against BH. In the battle for the bottom NMH beats Kent

I have also divided Division 2 into 2 categories: Div2-West which is mostly boarding and Div-2 FAA which is mostly day schools. Difficult to compare the two divisions which is why I split them up. Millbrook and Brunswick-B made the biggest jumps. Hard to believe that Cheshire Academy lost to the Canterbury-JV squad; they play the varsity later in the year. GFA and King school probably the teams to beat in the FAA

I dont think Division 3 has played much lacrosse. Williams is technically not in the division but they play most the schools and are probably the best team

Current Last Week School Record Comments
Division 1
1 1 Brunswick (5-1) Beat Kent (16-2), loss to Darien (11-12), Beat Loomis (12-6)
2 3 Salisbury (4-0) Beat Millbrook (16-10) and Berkshire (15-11)
3 2 Taft (2-1) Beat Andover(24-4), Interesting they put Army as a win - it was canceled. Not giving them a win
4 4 Avon Old Farms (3-1) Loss to Belmont Hill (5-6), Beat NMH (19-7)
5 6 Deerfield (3-2) Beat berkshire (10-6), Beat Westy (12-7)
6 7 Loomis (2-2) Beat TP (6-2), Loss Wick (6-12)
7 5 Trinity Pawling (1-1) Loss Loomis (2-6), Beat Gunnery (12-2)
8 8 Hotchkiss (3-0) Win Westy (9-8), Beat Millbrook (12-11)
9 9 Choate (4-0) Beat NMH (18-7) and Kent (19-3)
10 10 Westminster (2-3) Loss Hotchkiss (9-8), Loss Deerfield (7-12)
11 11 Berkshire (1-2) Loss Deerfield (6-10) and Salisbury (11-15)
12 12 Northfield Mount Hermon (1-4) Beat Kent (11-7), Loss to Choate (7-18), Loss to AOF (7-19)
13 13 Kent (0-2) Loss to NMH (7-11), Loss to Wick (2-16) and Choate (19-3)

Division 2 West (mostly boarding)
1 1 Wilbraham & Monson (2-0) Beat Hamden Hall (20-6). Beat Albany (12-11)
2 4 Millbrook (4-2) Not a bad loss to Salisbury (10-16) and Hotchkiss (11-12)
3 7 Brunswick B (not JV) (3-0) Beat Gunnery (9-6), Beat Cheshire Acad (14-5)
4 5 Albany Acadamies (1-1) Beat Williston (13-12), Loss Wilbraham (11-12)
5 6 Williston (2-1) Loss to Albany (12-13), Beat Gunnery (13-5)
6 2 Canterbury (2-1) Beat Salsibury B but loss to a 1-3 Pomfret (16-9)
7 3 Gunnery (0-4) Loss to Brunswick B (9-6), loss to williston (5-13), Loss TP (2-12). Hard schedule so far
8 8 Cheshire Academy (0-4) Loss to Brunswick B (5-14), Loss to Canterbury B
9 9 Suffield Academy (0-2) Loss to King (4-8) and Worcester Acad (6-14)

Division 2 - FAA (Day Schools))

Watched the first 8 minutes of the 2nd qtr of Salisbury v TP. It's 2-2. Don't know what happened in the 1st. TP just got the ball out of their half for the 1st time in this qtr. Lots of missed shots from Salisbury. Lots of saves from TP goalie. And just like that TP go ahead 3-2.

TP up4-3 at the half. Even game. TP's D doing a better job of limiting clean chances.

Wick v Lawrenceville starts in a bit

Salisbury wins 9-8 with last shot in the last second. TP might have a right to feel aggrieved, although it was hard to tell. The camera was situated somewhere in the next county and there were no replays. With about 8 seconds left with and just as the shot clock expired a Salisbury middie took a shot that looked like it went well wide and untouched. The ref said that the TP goalie made a save and gave the ball back to Salisbury. Salisbury scores. Game over.
